The Maintenance Mechanic is a union position responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, trouble-shooting production equipment and systems, and supporting operations by reducing down time from equipment failures. This position requires a specialist in instrumentation, electrical and electronic systems along with general trade skills. Modifications to equipment and general responsibilities for upkeep and improvement of the facility and it’s systems will be required. The position is located in a manufacturing environment with all the environmental risks and hazards associated with a chemical manufacturing plant. Nights and weekend required on an as needed basis.
Essential duties may include:
General Duties
Installs, repairs and modifies production equipment, instrumentation, office equipment and physical facilities Assists in trouble-shooting equipment problems Performs at least one of the following: welding, plumbing, electrical work or other trade functions Perform plant preventative maintenance program Maintains spare parts inventory systems. Receives, inspects and stores spare parts. Performs Safe Work Practices such as Confined Space Entry and Control of Hazardous Energy according to policies and procedures Provides off shift coverage for breakdowns, repairs and emergencies
E & I Specialty
Read and interpret P&ID’s, equipment manuals, electrical schematics, instrument loop diagrams and other specifications to determine the repair method on failed components. Install, troubleshoot, calibrate and repair process control instrumentation including transmitters, controllers, control valves, flow meters, etc. Responsible for completion of inspections, maintenance troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation systems Support Distributed Control system (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controls (PLC’s) as requiredSafety & Other
Complete all safety inspections and paper work required by the plant. Ensures SFW permits and return to work process is completed for all work performed Correctly and accurately completes required paper work, documenting all maintenance actions The successful candidate will have: Five years’ experience as an I&E maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment High School diploma or equivalent Associates in Instrumentation Technology or similar, strongly preferred Power truck operation experience strongly preferred Knowledge of machinery, valves, pumps, etc. Mechanical aptitude that includes troubleshooting and hand tools Experience with ERP maintenance modules strongly preferred Ability to quickly and efficiently diagnose equipment failures and recommend solutions. Ability to work alone or as a team player through to senior management Ability and willingness to learn new trade skills Strong communication skills to effectively understand issues from production teams and report to management Troubleshooting capabilities to address problems effectively and efficiently#LI-MS1
