Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, assists in general maintenance functions of the hospital.

Completes assigned work orders and/or PMs in a timely manner or informs supervisor of any problems accomplishing a task.Immediately identifies and informs the supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment.Achieves to reduce maintenance and utility costs through improved operational procedures.Helps to maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.Maintains a professional attitude toward patients, visitors and staff at all times.Varies work schedule or shift to meet the department staffing needs.Works overtime only with approval or when requested by the Supervisor.Schedules all vacation and personal holidays with prior supervisory approval.Performs other duties as required by Supervisor.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

High School Graduate or Equivalent
At least five (5) years of commercial construction or industrial maintenance experience
At least three (3) years of practical experience in an accredited hospital Facilities department

Preferred Education and Experience:

Graduate of Trade School

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:

Must be able to perform minor electrical, HVAC, mechanical repairs.
Must be able to read blueprints.
Minor computer skills (work order systems).
Good communication skills.
General knowledge or willing to learn equipment associated with the support of a hospital. Equipment included but not limited to: vacuum pumps, medical air compressors, chillers and emergency power.
