**Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic**
**Job Description**
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for completing assigned maintenance duties to ensure customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction. This includes performing onsite maintenance for production equipment by completing breakdown and preventative maintenance on all filling, packaging, processing, and palletizing equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic will diagnose, repair, and replace industrial equipment in a fast-paced production environment, supporting the manufacture of dairy-related products.
**Responsibilities**
+ Achieve assigned goals in the areas of maintenance, safety, quality, performance, and cost.
+ Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity and equipment capabilities, including disassembling and reassembling machinery, overhauling gearboxes, and replacing bearings/bushings/etc.
+ Read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine the method and sequence of assembly of parts, machines, or equipment.
+ Expedite the reentry of down equipment within a manufacturing environment to working condition.
+ Repair and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies.
+ Test the performance of electro-mechanical assemblies using test instruments such as multi-meters, volt, and amp meters.
+ Install electronic parts and hardware using soldering equipment and hand-tools.
+ Operate, test, program, and maintain complete manufacturing lines such as beverage filling machines, conveyors, and palletizers.
+ Source parts from vendors when parts are unavailable or have long lead times; order parts in a timely manner to ensure equipment reliability.
+ Maintain Maintenance Inventory System to ensure accurate inventories.
+ Communicate effectively between shifts and other departments, including the status of equipment to supervisors/co-workers at the end of shifts and log book documentation.
+ Comply with GMP's, SOP's, corporate and/or plant policies, rules, and regulations.
+ Follow OEM manuals and execute accurate and precise procedures according to those manuals.
+ Provide assistance and support to all areas in the production facility as assigned by supervisor/lead.
+ Gain competence on line circuits and ensure proper hookups are made in the facility.
+ Report food safety problems and initiate action; support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality.
+ Ensure work areas are sanitary and strictly adhere to sanitation practices.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Minimum of GED or High School Diploma is required.
+ Minimum 3-5 years' experience within a mechanical automation field.
+ Technical trade, military training, or technical college strongly preferred.
+ Experience with VFD's, stretch or blow molding, conveyors, pumps, pneumatic sanitary valves, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
+ Experience with PLCs, instruments, and controls.
+ Experience with closed cooling systems including evaporator towers, water cooling towers, and chillers.
+ Experience working in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
+ HVAC experience is a plus.

**Work Environment**
Normally protected from weather and temperature changes, though exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions may exist. Potential exposure to ingredients used in the manufacturing of food products, including allergens, and chemicals involved in the manufacturing and sanitation of a food processing facility.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Syracuse, New York.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
