The Maintenance Mechanic at a Senior level is a crucial member of our maintenance team, with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and supporting manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for performing repairs and preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, processes, and buildings. The Maintenance Mechanic will utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work history, manage parts usage, and ensure timely and effective maintenance activities. Responsibilities:
Perform Repairs: Understand and complete minor and routine repairs with general supervision to maintain mechanical equipment such as extruders, thermoformers, chillers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, conveyors, and other production equipment.
Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled preventative maintenance on all production and facility equipment as directed, ensuring machinery is running efficiently.
Adhere to Maintenance Practices: Follow all established maintenance practices concerning SAP, preventative maintenance paperwork, parts usage, and ordering procedures.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in the speed and accuracy of product changeovers and maintenance plans to optimize production efficiency.
Troubleshoot Mechanical Issues: Diagnose problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments to ensure effective solutions.
Fabricate Parts: Utilize machine shop equipment such as drill presses, welders, and hydraulic presses to fabricate repair parts as needed.
Maintenance of Equipment: Perform preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, packaging systems, extruders, thermoformers, lift trucks, and all other production equipment to ensure optimal operation.
Inventory Management: Maintain equipment parts and supplies inventories by checking stock levels, anticipating needed equipment parts and supplies, and completing purchase requisition forms for necessary parts and materials.
Repair Automation Machinery: Troubleshoot and repair high-speed automation machinery, including bagging, case erecting/sealing, palletizers, and shrink wrapper equipment.
Production Support: Function as a relief for any production position (packer, material handler, machine operator) as business demands, ensuring seamless operations.
Overtime and Training: Work overtime as needed to meet business demands, including attending monthly training meetings mandated by OSHA and plant sanitation certifications.
Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate powered industrial forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulating boom lifts as required.
Tooling and Mold Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, and clean molds, dies, and tooling to ensure the longevity and quality of production equipment.
Facility Shutdown/Startup: Assist in all facility shutdown and startup procedures, ensuring they are completed correctly and thoroughly.

Working hours: Two Shifts are available - 7:00am-7:00pm and 7:00pm - 7:00am with rotating schedules.

Skills:
Mechanical Aptitude: Any formal mechanical aptitude training or machining education is a plus.
Welding: Basic welding skills are highly desirable.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with PC and network-based software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Experience in automated production line maintenance is a plus.
Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the plastics industry, specifically in extrusion and thermoforming processes, is a strong advantage.

Education: High School diploma or GED.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant mechanical or electrical experience, or
Trade school training with at least 6 months of mechanical or electrical experience.
Tools: Must have and maintain own tools and toolbox necessary for job functions.
Certifications: Will be trained and certified in fork truck, scissor lift, articulating boom lift operation, and hazardous materials handling.
Technical Proficiency: Ability to quickly troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, air compression, hydraulic, electrical systems, and automation issues.
Basic experience in diagnosing and resolving mechanical breakdowns and electrical systems issues.
Ability to read and understand electrical blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
