Maintenance Mechanic Tech I -3rd Shift

SUMMARY

The Maintenance II Technician performs technical maintenance for equipment, machinery, structures, and grounds while maintaining a safe working environment. Assist the Maintenance Manager in mentoring the Team Members in all aspects of maintenance to qualify for the next level in their career.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Which include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform technical repairs on equipment under a Maintenance Mechanic III Technician or Maintenance Manager.

Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers, lights, outlets, circuit breakers, and wiring, electrical and electronic components of equipment.

Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager on daily workload.

Disassemble, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. 

Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

Inspect and test machinery and equipment.

Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance of equipment, machinery, electrical systems and structures using blueprints, diagrams, manuals and written instructions while adhering to all safety guidelines to ensure efficient operations.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctions of equipment and machinery promptly.

Construct, install, and repair equipment in accordance with manufactures guidelines and repair manual.

Repair and maintain the physical structure of the facility.

Install, program, or repair automated machinery and equipment such as sortation systems and programmable controllers.

Provide back-up for the Battery Room/Utility Team Member in changing batteries, repairing chargers, batteries and transporter, and battery testing.

Ensure all hazardous material in the Maintenance Department is stored in a flammable storage cabinet at the end of each shift or when not in use.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess or pass the Basic Mechanical, Industrial Mechanical and Electrical Skill Assessment.

Knowledge of Conveyor systems, security controls, fire protection, building, HVAC, lighting, electrical, and other related equipment and structures.

General knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and procedures including best safety practices.

General administrative, organizational, managerial and communication skills.

Basic knowledge of blue prints and schematic reading.

Good communication and writing skills.

Ability to use hand, power tools and shop equipment.

Ability to read and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Ability to follow all Company, State and Federal safety rules and regulations and wear safety personal protective equipment when required.

Must be able to use computerized maintenance management software to procure parts, generate and update work orders.

Work various shifts, departments and locations, as required.

Overtime as required.

Weekends as required.

Holiday’s as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required; two to three years related experience and/or training; minimum one year of maintenance experience in a distribution center; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

While performing the duties of this position, the Technician is regularly exposed to electrical equipment in both high and low voltage/amperage ranges, and occasionally exposed to high places, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasional high.
