Maintenance Night Shift Lead

Starting Rate:             Based upon Experience – Must be 1st Class Mechanic or Higher

Shift:                        Sunday-Thursday; 10p–6a

Supervises:              Up to 6 Employees

Description:

This job description covers most significant duties performed but does not exclude other work assignments not mentioned which require comparable skills, efforts, and experience.

 

The person in this classification is expected to perform as a professional. He/She must be highly skilled and an exceptionally competent maintenance leader able to engage the work force. The Maintenance Night Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily night shift activities.

 

Responsibilities:

Analyze causes of breakdowns and initiate corrective measures Assist Reliability team in training and development of other mechanics Complete required records and reports as needed Ensure Lock Tag Try (LTT) procedures are appropriately utilized, training as needed and regularly auditing the process Ensure team follows all site safety procedures and practices including but not limited to:  rigging, elevated work, confined space, line break, hot work, electrical safety, use of STAR cards when applicable, etc Must be able to support the team with troubleshooting, focusing on resolving problems and identifying the root cause Assist in determining appropriate methods and obtaining/coordinating necessary resources to accomplish the tasks of installing, modifying, or maintaining plant equipment during the night shift Read, understand, and analyze blueprints and other technical data references. Inspect plant equipment to identify potential problems prior to breakdown occurrences Follow all environmental compliance polices & programs Call in and oversee outside contractors as needed Ensure night shift follows RWP workflow and properly documents work activities and breakdowns in SAP, including accounting for any parts consumed Responsible for daily communication and smooth transition between shifts, participating in pass down meetings, and providing necessary details for any breakdowns that occurred, or any follow up work needed Follow-up and hold mechanics accountable on daily work and ensure work gets executed properly. Communicate daily with Maintenance Foreman on any schedule changes Enforce and hold night shift accountable for all plant and maintenance department rules, policies, and expectations for performance Ensure night shift maintenance personnel are effectively utilized, assigning additional duties as needed Must be lead person working with Production to ensure all major breakdowns (plan, progress, and resolution) on night shift are effectively communicated to the leadership team Must be on call and available to support the plant as needed. All other duties as assigned or needed

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

Must be 1st Class Mechanic or Higher Must be proficient in SAP PM module Strong aptitude with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc. High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Leadership training Basic PLC training Minimum of five (5) years in a related maintenance trade or occupation that involved electrical or hydraulic machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment Demonstrated coaching/leadership ability and/or prior supervisory experience

Forklift operation, licensed Able to think under pressure and make quick decisions Ability to work and communicate professionally Good attention to detail Basic Welding Advanced Mechanical and Electrical Aptitude Basic PLC Excellent written & oral communication skills Must be able to hold self and others to a high standard of quality workmanship

 

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to routinely lift up to 40 lbs without assistance Ability to routinely lift up to 80 lbs with assistance Work for up to 12 hours in extreme hot/cold manufacturing environment Walk/stand on concrete floors continuously for up to 12 hours-continuous Ascend and descend stairs to enter most areas of the facility-continuous Ability to work in cramped areas and enter confined spaces-frequently Ability to work at heights - frequently Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – steel toed shoes, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) as necessary for task Regular attendance onsite and ability to rotate and work shift work
