Position Description
The Maintenance & Operations Worker Is a Non-Civil Service position that performs various duties necessary for the maintenance and daily operations of The Fairgrounds Nashville including, but not limited to, event set-up, preventative maintenance, janitorial services, light construction and repair, grounds maintenance, and equipment operation.
Typical Duties
+ Performs various duties necessary for the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds, signs, electronic control systems, roads, sidewalks, recreational areas and equipment, water and sewer systems, and fixtures.
+ Performs preventative maintenance inspections and activities.
+ Inspects buildings, grounds, and equipment for safety and condition.
+ Prepares venue for events including setting tables, chairs, pipe and drape, electrical access, etc.
+ Operates and maintains lighting, irrigation, audio/visual systems.
+ Operates and maintains equipment such as forklift, floor scrubber, telescoping lift, mowers, tractors, blower, sweeper, hand tools, etc.
+ Assists with diagnosis of and troubleshooting solutions for maintenance issues.
+ Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
+ May operate, tow, or transport equipment or commercial motor vehicles.
+ Assists with the training and monitoring of temporary workers.
+ Work week may involve second shift, weekends, and non-traditional hours to accommodate event support.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Eighth Grade Education and experience in construction, laboring, maintenance or a related field.
LICENSES REQUIRED: Valid Driver's License

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ CPR/First Aid Certification
+ CDL
