Maintenance Planner I

Responsible for writing work orders and coordinating between Maintenance Supervision and department requesting work. Responsible for developing and explaining reliability based procedures, and programs. Assigns asset numbers for machinery and other equipment as necessary.

Inputs work orders into computer and generates the daily schedule list and closes the work orders when complete.

Maintains machine parts or equipment in computer system for location.  Tracks ordered parts for work orders and assists purchasing in identifying part numbers and information on purchased equipment.

Responsible for initiating and maintaining good housekeeping practices; safety programs and instructions.

Responsible for scheduling and making of maintenance P.M.S., jib cranes, motors, etc. 

Obtains quotes from outside contractors on machine repairs as needed.

Works with Safety Department on safety issues in plant requiring maintenance input and repairs or fabrication for safety purposes.

Additional Functions:

Responsible for recommending cost reduction ideas in the operation of the department and in the areas where misuse or abuse of machinery creates extra cost.

Maintain furnace information.

Supervise maintenance mechanics as required.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Traits:

High School Diploma, some college preferred 2 years technical training, 2 years maintenance experience.Specialized training of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems and componentsMust have strong work ethic, outgoing and assertive personality and must have excellent team-building skills with subordinates as well as with peers.
