The Job You Will Perform:
The Maintenance Planner supports the execution of maintenance work by initiating, planning, coordinating, and documenting Maintenance Work Orders originating from Work Requests. The primary role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve the work force productivity and quality by providing well-planned work orders for maintenance to execute. The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all work planning activities. The Maintenance Planner maintains documentation of maintenance activities within SAP-PM and keeps within compliance of record retention and SAP equipment specifications and BOM updates.The Maintenance Planner reports to the Area Maintenance Manager.
Plans maintenance work to be scheduled for a requested future date as well as tracks performance and maintains accurate records. Receives all Work Orders from the originating areas, except for emergency and urgent Work Orders, which are given to the appropriate Maintenance personnel for immediate attention. Screens each Work Orders to see that it has been properly filled out and makes necessary corrections. Conducts site reviews in the field with the originating area and other appropriate Maintenance personnel to confirm the job scope and the details of the Work Order. Estimates the costs of Work Orders in terms of labor, materials and outside services when necessary. Plans all Work orders by analyzing them into basic job steps, determining the sequence relative to each job step, and identifying the parts, materials, special tools, and skills required for each step. Initiates purchase requisition with necessary specifications for all materials, equipment, special tools, and/or outside services and arranges for their timely delivery. Utilizing Purchasing, solicits proposals in accordance with policies and procedures as necessary to secure goods and services. Verifies the availability of parts, materials, and special tools required for Work Order execution prior to scheduling the job. Coordinates staging all parts and material for the Work Order. Solicits Process or Maintenance Engineering support when technical expertise is required to plan a Work Order. Obtains necessary documentation (drawings, sketches, pictures, manuals, and specifications) to perform work associated with each Work Order. Makes sketches as required documenting the work to be performed. Prepares check sheets for Preventive Maintenance work that is part of the Maintenance Master Schedule and issues them for execution in accordance with their establish frequency. Establishes repetitive Work Order for selected preventive maintenance work that is part of the Maintenance Master Schedule. Maintains Check Sheets comments and measurements in the appropriate equipment history files. Provides input into the development of the Mill's 12-Month Event Schedule as requested. Participates in the preparation of the monthly outage schedules from the 12-Month Event Schedule, Maintenance Master Schedule, and the ready backlog. Maintains Work Order Backlogs for jobs in the scoping, estimating, planning, ready, and follow-up stages and communicates the status to the appropriate Operations and maintenance personnel. Maintains a Ready Backlog of Work Orders to be scheduled in the event of an unscheduled shut down. These unscheduled shutdown lists are to be reviewed/updated weekly in each area. Carefully reviews completed work schedules and corresponding Work Order feedback form submitted by the Maintenance Foremen, ascertaining the degree to which schedules are met, the details of the non-compliance, and the actual conformance to Work Order estimates. Develops a file of standard plans for regularly recurring repair jobs based on historical experience to simplify the planning process. Maintains a file for each piece of area equipment. Each folder contains all information relevant to that piece of equipment such as specifications, manuals, etc. Ensures the SAP equipment file is accurate and current by adding and deleting equipment information, maintaining the bill of materials, and maintaining procedures. Initiates paperwork necessary to maintain proper spare parts inventories. Makes recommendations for planning/scheduling improvements. Performs all work in a safe manner. Specifies and verifies all parts; required tools; special equipment; and materials. Procures materials and parts. Assembles complete and detailed Work Order Packages complete with job plan (SJP),Task Lists, Precision Worksheets, Safety Checklists, Specs, etc. Updates and maintains SAP-PM on all Equipment BOM’s. Maintains drawings and info on spare parts, specifications, SJP’s, etc. Act as a Contractor Coordinator (IPCC) for outages.

High School Diploma/GED required, post-secondary degree preferred 3-5 years Maintenance Planning experience Pulp & Paper Mill Maintenance Technician/Planning experience preferred Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Word/Excel
