Pay Range
$153,450 - $197,028 Annually for the TSL.3 level
$183,990 - $236,316 Annually for the TSL.4 level


This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Job Description

We have an opening for a Maintenance Production Division Leader.  You will provide technical direction and supervision to technical personnel for facilities and utilities modifications, alterations, and maintenance. You will represent the Division and frequently interact with all levels of management, internal and external to the Laboratory, including Department of Energy (DOE) and external contractors. This position is in the Infrastructure Maintenance and Utilities Department (IMUD) within the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) Directorate.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.


You will

Provide advanced technical direction and supervision for a large workforce of craft and service personnel, with overall responsibility for setting and meeting the Division’s project delivery schedules and budgets, including managing personnel, performance management, disciplinary actions, annual performance evaluations, ranking, career development, mentoring, and recruiting.Manage and direct the scope of work to be performed and ensure the technical, ES&H, and security aspects of the work are analyzed and controlled, along with ensuring that work activities meet technical, financial, administrative and ES&H compliance and objectives.Interpret DOE orders that apply to the local Laboratory environment and ensure the Division is compliant. Assess, determine, plan, develop and implement workload requirements and technical data for workforce plans including establishing schedules, expectations, and performance standards.Provide analysis of multiple scenarios to provide competitive, responsive and quality facilities operations and maintenance products and services.Responsible for developing and managing budgets for job costs, training, shop supplies, tools and equipment while implementing programs adding new approaches and techniques for more cost-effective utilization of labor resources and material.Represent the Division when interfacing with Laboratory scientific, technical and administrative clients in resolving complex customer facility-related and service issues.Collaborate and interact regularly with senior management, a diverse workforce, and other functional areas on advanced technical projects and activities.Perform other duties and assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the TSL.4 Level
 

Provide consultative support, advice, and technical expertise on maintenance and operations issues and initiatives that have institutional impact. Develop and document operational strategies, policies, and procedures for the protection of personnel, property, and the environment.Direct significant projects with significant span of control and delegated authority in the accomplishment of high-level work objectives.Collaborate with Department Head to plan and establish long-range goals and ensure LLNL’s mission and work activities are met. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent combination of education and significant related experience in a maintenance field.Supervisory, budgetary, technical and administrative experience, and experience providing technical direction to a large diverse technical craft and service workforce.Significant experience and advanced knowledge of maintenance services area consisting of technical crafts (Collective Bargaining Unit) and services workforce.Experience planning/forecasting short- and long-term personnel needs for a technical craft and service type workforce.Ability to ensure that ES&H issues are dealt with in a prompt and efficient manner adhering to all local, state and federal guidelines and regulations. Ability to foster and promote a safe and healthy work environment.Significant experience with maintenance organization roles and responsibilities, policies, procedures and processes including advanced knowledge of applicable codes and as it pertains to facility and utility modification, alterations, and maintenance work.Advanced communication, facilitation, collaboration, interpersonal and problem-solving skills necessary to effectively interact with and advise all levels of management including group/division leaders, project engineers, facility managers and scientific personnel to determine type and level of support needed.
 

Additional qualifications, at the TSL.4 Level

Significant experience with long-range strategic planning, Work Order Systems, and work planning and control requirements.Expert level technical, organizational, team-building, and interpersonal skills necessary to manage a multi-disciplinary workforce, who execute multiple projects at one time, with different levels of complexity that requires coordination from a variety of organizations while maintaining a strong safety culture in the workplace.Significant supervisory, budgetary, technical and administrative experience, and experience managing a large diverse technical craft and service workforce.Experience with Federal orders, nuclear maintenance, national standards, ES&H and security policies and procedures and other regulatory agency rules and regulations.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of LLNL’s ES&H and Security policies and procedures.Familiarity with applicable codes and regulations, including knowledge of DOE and LLNL policies and procedures as they pertain to facility and utility maintenance work. Additional Information

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.  If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
