Primary Role
Operates, controls, repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operating manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery, and mechanical equipment used to process and distribute water for human consumption. Using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring and testing instruments.
Key Accountabilities Be able to use and understand SAP/Map call to complete job or task assigned to them. Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools. Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand and power tools. Starts devices to test their performance. Lubricates and cleans parts and equipment. May set up and operate drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools to make repairs or repair parts. Acquires materials for repairs to machinery or to maintain orderly flow of materials and processes. Repairs, installs, and performs preventive testing of electrical equipment. Repairs, installs, and performs preventive testing of process control equipment. Maintains records, drawings, and reports within area of responsibility. Be able to use and understand SCADA, and other computer-based programs. Operates and maintains sludge dewatering equipment. Performs treatment operator and assistant operator duties (in a rotating schedule as assigned). Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and Head Maintenance personnel. Knowledge/Skills Capability to operate all motorized vehicles and equipment. General knowledge of equipment and tools used in maintenance work, such as welders, volt meters, pipe threaders, electric tools, laser alignment, dial indicators and any other tools and equipment used in maintenance or upkeep of facilities. Experience in water treatment plant or related field preferred. Experience/Education High School Diploma or Equivalent. Other Position may be subject to mandatory off hours call-out and overtime, plus rotating shift work as required. Required to possess and maintain a drivers license valid in the state of their residence. Work Environment Environmental conditions including contact with water, chemicals, fumes, odors and dust as a result of working with and handling potentially hazardous water treatment and laboratory chemicals.
