Description
This position with Lee County Solid Waste will involve performing routine vehicle and equipment maintenance, running parts, clean-up, painting the department's buildings, and maintaining the grounds. A maintenance specialist will assist technicians in performing repairs and maintenance work on various-size engines and machinery, ranging from light to heavy-duty vehicles and construction and landscape equipment. The incumbent will operate various types of motor vehicles, equipment, hand, and power tools. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed by a supervisor for accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.
+ Run parts and supplies as needed.
+ Clean and paint department buildings.
+ Maintain the grounds.
+ Assist technicians with repairs and maintenance work on various-size engines and machinery.
+ Operate motor vehicles, equipment, hand, and power tools.
+ Ensure all work is performed accurately and efficiently under general supervision.
The ideal candidate is someone who is self-motivated and hands-on, has attention to detail and accuracy in performance, documentation, and data preparation, dynamic ability to get things done, but is able to get along with, and gain the respect of a wide variety of people and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities

+ Pick-up and delivery of vehicles and equipment as needed.
+ General building and grounds cleaning and upkeep and organizing.
+ Mow grass, edge walks, and curbs, and trim shrubbery.
+ Paint facilities as needed.
+ Assist maintenance technicians in maintenance activities.
+ Washing, pressure cleaning, and vacuuming vehicles and equipment as needed.
+ Maintains cleanliness and upkeep of the maintenance shop.
+ Pick up trash on the site’s property, roadways, and empty trash barrels.
+ Completes and updates repair and maintenance work orders regarding the department’s vehicles and equipment in
+ Faster DB asset management software.
+ Performs a variety of general clerical duties including data entry, completing work orders, and maintaining files and records.
+ Maintains cleanliness and organization of the stock room; performs routine housekeeping duties in the parts room, shop, and work areas.
+ May assist in other areas of the vehicle maintenance shop as needed.
+ Performs additional tasks as required by manager or supervisor.
Education, Experience, Licensing
+ Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from High School or GED and six months of increasingly responsible experience in building or construction maintenance, vehicle mechanical experience, or closely related experience.
+ Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.

The work schedule is Monday through Friday and rotational Saturdays. Specific hours and days are dependent on the assigned shift. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Must be able to work flexible hours under emergencies.
