Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Maintenance Specialist. - Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of responsibilities:
Perform daily maintenance tasks, including repairs to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, doors, windows, furniture, and fixtures.Responsible for day-to-day work order response and maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for a residential community.Troubleshoot and make repairs within the residential community, ensuring minimal disruption to students.Identify maintenance trends and develop proactive plan to address concerns in consultation with a supervisor.Conduct weekly building walks to ensure buildings are safe, secure, and well maintained. Create work orders to address concerns.Responsible for room turns during break periods in assigned residential communities.
Maintain open communication with Custodians and Residential Education staff to ensure a coordinated approach to resolving issues that impact the residential experience.
Ensure all building systems comply with university standards, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain safety standards in all areas of work, including proper handling of hazardous materials, adherence to fire safety protocols, and maintenance of fire alarms, extinguishers, and emergency exits.
Maintain tools and supplies inventory.
Assist with emergency preparedness, such as drills, safety checks, and evacuations.
Serving as essential personnel during campus emergencies and participating in an on-call rotation—including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
