Position Description

The Maintenance Supervisor, Blow Mold is responsible for managing the blow mold equipment, changeovers, training, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, you will ensure product quality and safety compliance, optimize machine reliability through preventative maintenance. This position is pivotal in achieving operational excellence and meeting internal customer requirements.

Shift/schedule: Hours are typically Monday - Friday however will need to be able to flexible based on business needs/conditions

Essential Functions:

Manage approved capital projects and submit projects that may be requested within the time and cost budget. Develop and communicate business impact with weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reports and presentations in Excel and PowerPoint. Make regular presentations to associates, local management team and executive team on department performance. Depending on size of facility, the blow mold supervisor will have direct interaction with other department managers including Maintenance, Production, Quality, Warehouse, and some Planner/Schedulers. Daily interaction and support provided   by Plant Controller and Human Resources.  The Blow Mold Supervisor will set performance objectives for each of the direct reports and regularly provide feedback and evaluation of performance against objectives. Supervisor also ensures all other employees are receiving regular performance evaluations. Positively drive support from Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, and Risk Management as well as outside vendors, contractors, and auditors. The blow mold supervisor helps provide leadership in identifying and implementing new technologies and capabilities within the facility to meet changing requests of the company’s internal and external customers. Develop and drive and “Ownership” culture in the department associates and develop and execute a plan to drive their personal development.  Identify associates that demonstrate high potential and execute a plan to increase their development and promotion. Responsible for direct supervision and utilization of equipment, materials, and people on the production lines. Adhere to all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies, health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas. Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements Provide supervision and leadership to maximize plant efficiency and performance. Conduct daily meetings with day and afternoon shift lead hands to identify and resolve issues. Daily walk through the plant including but not limited to the production area. Ensure production personnel are maintaining good housekeeping practices and end of shift cleanup is conducted daily Provides training and cross training to assure production schedules are met within budget, product specifications, quality requirements and safety standards. Reviews, evaluates, counsels, disciplines and discharges employees as necessary to ensure department meets or exceeds productivity requirements Evaluates and recommends improvements to product manufacturability. Effectively work with the company’s engineering group to successfully implement and sustain key product initiatives such as light weighting, production design and package additions while maintain product quality.

 

Requirements

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent (required) Vocational training, technical school certification, or apprenticeship in mechanical or related fields (preferred). Minimum 3-5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably soft drinks. Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with blow molds. Experience in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. SAP prior experience a strong asset

Proficiency Level:

A successful blow mold supervisor will have accomplished experience in a high-speed manufacturing operation providing the leadership and business knowledge necessary to successfully lead their team. They provide the necessary training, mentoring, and leadership to meet business and performance objectives within the parameters of the budget.

Physical Demands:

Physical - Continuously standing or walking. Visual/Sensory - This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time. Work Environment - Work and environment are very repetitive.

Climate: This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to work in ambient hot and/or cold seasonal environments.
