This is accomplished through our: Office of Advocacy and Assistance, Residential Facility, Healthcare Center, and Cemetery and Burial Services. The DVA has supported Connecticut Veterans and continues this tradition with Residential and Healthcare programming on our campus in Rocky Hill. There are two paths for residency at the DVA: + Residential Facility: offers temporary, supportive living with programming designed to return Connecticut Veterans to independent living in the community; + Sgt. John L. Levitow Healthcare Center: a state-of-the-art medical facility that offers long-term care for veterans with chronic, disabling conditions who require 24-hour assistance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Six (6) years of experience in the trade area indicated by the parenthetical title. NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Qualified Craft Worker. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + Possess a valid State of Connecticut HVAC license (S10) + Experience supervising workers in a maintenance and repair setting + Experience with relevant state and national building and life safety codes + Experience reading/interpreting specifications, blueprints, and sketches for routine maintenance and capital improvement projects + Experience utilizing Microsoft office and Excel + Experience working in a 24/7 skilled nursing facility environment with regulatory requirements from Department of Public Health (DPH), Federal Veterans Administration, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Fire Marshal, and Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS + Incumbents in this class may be required by the appointing authority to possess and retain appropriate current licenses, permits and/or certifications including possession and retention of a license as an Unlimited Journeyperson in the trade area indicated by the parenthetical title. + Incumbents in this class may be required to travel. CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS At state airports: In addition to the checking of references and of facts stated in the application, a thorough background investigation of each candidate may be made before persons are certified for appointment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the class. + A physical examination may be required.
