Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor manages operations of the Maintenance Department to ensure that equipment and facilities are in good condition to minimize downtime, meet production deadlines and maintain product quality.

They will also facilitate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance outages and repairs, implements/oversees preventative and predictive maintenance programs, works with engineering to implement cap-ex projects, and pre-qualifies contractors for equipment installation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

Leading a team: Interviewing and selecting candidates, communicating job goals and expectations, appraising job results, coaching and counseling team members, overseeing and managing maintenance workers and contractors, setting shift schedules and assignments, and organizing and leading maintenance training.Ensuring safety: Being highly diligent with safety regulations, conducting safety inspections, ensuring the team follows company policies and procedures, and inspecting machinery and equipment for conformance with operational standards.Completing tasks: Directing and coordinating activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation/removal of machines, tools, and equipment; and ensuring that maintenance and repair work is completed correctly, efficiently, and on time.Developing plans: Evaluating systems and facilities, developing maintenance procedures and schedules, reviewing and recommending modifications to maintenance equipment and processes, and overseeing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.Ordering supplies: Overseeing the requisitioning tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations (MRO purchasing).Responding to requests: Reviewing work orders to determine priorities, responding to maintenance requests and escalating issues to management (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic) as needed.Supporting cap-ex projects: Reviewing new equipment plans and discussing equipment needs and modifications with engineers.Other Duties as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of European machinery, metric system and Euro-drives highly preferred.High level of experience with scanner technology, sensors, hydraulics, conveyors, belts, welding (MIG, ARC, plasma, gas), fabrication, dust collection technology, fire suppression technology, motors (servo, pneumatic, 480 amp/3 phase) and plumbing required.Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and blueprints for existing equipment and to implement new equipment required.Strong knowledge of LOTO, hot work permits, and aerial safety requirements required.Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends, and answer calls on off-hours to support production.Must be able to lift and carry up to 40-pounds, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs and ladders, and work at heights as need.Must be able to work for long periods under a wide range of conditions.Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.Ability to implement/manage a Maintenance Work-Order-System.Hands-on ability and willingness to troubleshoot and perform mechanic work.Strong interpersonal communication skills and effective organizational skills.Familiarity with PLC, HMI, and VFD drives.Competent in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.Ability to run forklift and manlift.Familiarity with UKG and Workday preferred.Experience with lumber / millwork preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.A minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience supervising in a manufacturing maintenance department with hourly direct reports required.Strong aptitude for equipment technology troubleshooting and repair.Six Sigma Lean Yellow Belt, Kaizen and 5S+1 experience highly desired.

The rate of pay for this position begins at an annualized salary of $88,000 (for a 40-hour work week) + benefits. Base pay may increase depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience. This information is specific to Verdi, NV and may not be applicable to other locations.
