Overview Directs the maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the desired quality, quantity and timely maintenance of all production machinery/equipment, physical plant, utilities and grounds in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and company policies. Lead by example, for maintenance techs on “How To”. This includes in-depth understanding and following of trouble shooting, department direction and plant policies. Coordinates maintenance activities through the supervision of employees to ensure the maintenance objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost-effective and safe manner. Partners with Maintenance Manager to ensure maintenance department comes in on budget. Reviews maintenance logs for the maintenance area. Ensures the preventative maintenance and work order programs are completed, up to date, accurate and documented. Coordinates shift change-over of equipment or preventative maintenance according to production schedules. Maintains production equipment and alarm systems in an efficient, safe operating condition. Assist with spare part ordering. Assists Maintenance Manager with activities associated with outside vendors on projects or repairs. Assists in overseeing the inventory of supplies, spare parts, maintenance materials and repair parts. Oversees maintenance work schedules and time keeping. Assists Maintenance Manager to control and minimize the overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, and equipment downtime. Oversees corrections and running adjustments of equipment to maximize production capabilities. Gathers, shares and organizes plant/equipment knowledge and work procedures. Be a resource. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws and company policies. Provides training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership to employees. Maintains good employee, corporate and community relations. Promotes T. Marzetti Company core values. Communicates work schedules, work assignments, and maintenance issues with maintenance technicians and maintenance manager. Coordinates with other department managers and supervisors to ensure proper purchasing, processing, packaging, accounting and inventory control activities and procedures. Maintains company standards for cleanliness, safety and productivity in the maintenance area. Assists Maintenance Manager in building and directing CapEx projects. Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards. Food Safety and Quality Responsibilities Applies the food safety and quality principles as described in the Marzetti Corporate Food Safety and Quality Manual and internal Marzetti Frozen Pasta policies, training and procedures in all applicable aspects of departmental and job functions. Qualifications 2-3 years maintenance/group leader experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry. Working knowledge of scheduling, budgets, equipment and production processes. High school graduate or equivalent plus technical training courses or technical school background. Supervisory Responsibility: Directly supervises 2-10 employees in the maintenance area. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and results of the maintenance area. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling and appraising employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints/grievances and resolving problems. Working Conditions/Environment Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to move 75 pounds 25 feet or more. Must be able to stand for an 8-10-hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive work. May be required to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays as needed. The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the plant is loud. Earplugs, safety glasses, beardnets (if facial hair exists), hairnets, and steel-toed / slip-resistant shoes are required in the plant in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
