Job Summary:

Morton Salt Silver Springs, NY location has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Supervisor. The right individual will be responsible for Maintenance Supervision, providing general day-to-day supervision of Machinists, Mechanics, Pipefitters, and Electricians to meet goals safely and effectively, in accordance with company policies and all regulatory and corporate compliance requirements. Also supervises Building and Grounds activities and contractors by making and implementing action plans for improvements to equipment and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Accountable for Providing Leadership in Support of the Company’s Zero Harm Goal of Achieving an Injury-Free Workplace. Accountable for Continuous Improvement in Workplace Safety by Promptly Addressing the Root Causes of OIIs or Near Misses, Conducting Effective Safety Meetings, Promptly Addressing Safety Concerns Raised by Employees, and Leading by Example. Accountable for EHS Compliance, Quality Policies and Procedures compliance including FSP principles as applicable, and Environment Policies, Programs and Good Manufacturing Practices and maintains required records for all of these areas. Is familiar with the plants’ FSP program and how it applies to his/her job. Maintains records as required.  Is trained and reviews/understands the plant's critical control points of scalping catches, magnet catches, Understands the importance of the FSP program as it pertains to the quality, legality and safety of products. Is instrumental in the documentation of equipment repair/inspection and isolation of downstream equipment to minimize contamination. Ensures adherence to standard work processes (MEWP) including Manufacturing Control and Reporting System (MCRS). Establishes and ensures achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Ensures compliance with corporate standards (e.g., financial, code of business conduct) and adherence to company policies. Ensures adherence to the return of equipment to Production. Ensures appropriate information has been captured on the work order. If appropriate information has not been captured, returns work order to maintenance employee. Accountable for Machinist, Mechanic, Electrician, and Pipefitter activities in all Production areas. Ensures work has been properly scoped and necessary materials are available when needed. Accountable for some Buildings and Grounds activities. Accountable for contractors as necessary. Makes reliability recommendations to Process and Reliability Engineers based on data analysis. Responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of Electricians, Mechanics, Machinists, Pipefitters, and corresponding apprentices for Maintenance activities. Responsible for preparing and issuing daily work assignments to those under supervision. Responsible for Impacting Equipment Uptime. Responsible for leading scheduled meetings, document and distribute schedules, and provide conflict feedback to customers. Responsible for evaluating documentation requirements (permits, drawings), and evaluating special equipment needs. Responsible for PM Compliance. Responsible for Schedule Compliance. Responsible for Managing Labor Efficiency. Responsible for People Development, Training, and Competencies. Responsible for Minimizing Maintenance Costs. Responsible for Managing the Maintenance Shop, Maintenance Equipment & Tools. Responsible for Impacting Operational Asset Utilization (OAU) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Assists in building daily and weekly maintenance schedules.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

A minimum of a AAS Degree in Technology or related field desired or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred. Minimum five (5) years of experience in a maintenance environment preferred. Minimum (3) years Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) preferred. Experience in crafts preferred.

Working Conditions:

Normal working schedule is day shift - flexible schedule. Responds to urgent or emergency situations outside of normal working hours, as needed. Works in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time. May perform sustained manual activities at moderate to heavy levels of exertion including lifting and moving loads of a minimum of fifty (50) pounds, climbing ladders/stairs and working on elevated platforms.  Uses hand tools and operates fixed and mobile plant equipment.  Works and travels throughout plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity.  Wears personal protective equipment, as required and uses full range of motion. Performs duties in confined space entries. Requires daily contact with employees in other departments Works in general office and manufacturing plant environment.  

Salary starts at $75,000 based on experience.
