Maintenance Supervisor - Dry Sweeteners

This role is not a remote opportunity, it is on-site at our Manufacturing Plant in Indianapolis, Indiana. 2nd and 3rd shift available.


Scope:

The Maintenance Supervisor manages and coordinates the activities of maintenance employees to assure proper maintenance and mechanic repair of machinery and equipment within the allotted budget and consistent with Company policies, procedures and regulations. Leads problem-solving efforts to support in repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools, and equipment.  Recommends and implements continuous improvement activities for manufacturing areas, creates and implements procedures and provides planning input into the CMMS, PM, and other projects. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Promotes safety and conducts him/herself in accordance with all safety guidelines at all timesDetermines schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnelMonitors employees' work levels and reviews work performanceMaintains working knowledge of equipmentLeads repairs on electrical controls and power wiring, electrical or electronic components such as proximity, photo eye, pushbutton and limit switchesOversees management of tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditionsAssists Safety in investigating accidents or injuries and prepares report of findingsAssures production schedules are met and all issues are resolved and communicated in a timely fashion. Supports and executes plant specific maintenance strategies to achieve the key performance goals for overall maintenance performance.Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures of maintenance techniciansCompiles operational or personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair or maintenance statistics, or test resultsEnforces maintenance policies and proceduresInitiates work orders and ensures work order procedures are followed.Counsels employees about work-related issues and assists employees to correct job-skill deficienciesIn depth knowledge with Variable Frequency Drives, Programmable Logic Controllers, Remote I/O, DC Speed Controllers, AC/DC Motors and Motor ControlsIn depth knowledge of mechanical power transfer systems such as gear reducers, chain/belt drives, direct drives, bearings, shafts and couplingsIn depth knowledge of 480-volt 3 phase power distribution such as transformers, Motor Control Centers, power panelsKnowledge of 120- and 24-volt discrete control and 4-20mA analog control systemsKnowledge and experience with pneumatic operated control valve actuators and solenoid devicesExamines objects, systems, or facilities and analyzes information to determine needed installations, services, or repairsConducts or arranges for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment useEnforces programs to increase operational efficiencies, increase equipment up-time and track response timeEnsures maintenance technicians comply with all GMP and SQF policies and proceduresExperienced with packaging, conveyance, liquid and powder manufacturing equipment and processesKnowledge of utility systems such as compressors, boilers, chillers and water systemsAll other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications: 

Associate degree in technical area or commensurate experience required, high school diploma or equivalent required. Supervisory or lead experience in a food and beverage company and understanding of regulatory requirements for food safety.Experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance; and TPM and Continuous Improvement experience preferred.Must be extremely organized and have experience managing a PM programPassion for troubleshooting electrical controls and developing maintenance technicians’ skillsDemonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize different projects and workload.Proven ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbally) with peers, management, contractors and vendorsStrong technical, managerial and leadership skills to build teams and implementing sustainable processes.MS Office, MS Project, MS Excel
