Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations located in Aroostook County. Our Mars Hill facility has over 200 incredible team members who work together to provide our customers with the best possible potato product. Responsibilities Position Summary: This position is responsible for performing a variety of mechanical maintenance repairs to support the plant facility. Repairs, installs, replace and tests electrical circuits and equipment. Uses hand tools and testing instruments. Dismantles machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Inspects completed work for conformance with requirements of local building and safety codes. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Inspects facility equipment on a daily basis performing various production startup and coverage tasks. 2. Maintains various plant machines by performing troubleshooting and general maintenance. 3. Trouble-shoots any repair-electrical, mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic components. 4. Uses prints, specifications, follows verbal instructions to make repairs to ordinary plumbing and electrical systems. Installs and threads pipe, performs soldering and cutting. 5. Assists in the installation of equipment. 6. Cleans and lubricates parts, equipment, and machinery. 7. Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner. 8. All food safety and human safety concerns need to be reported to appropriate personnel such as QA technician, Safety Manager, FSQ Manager, etc. 9. Participate in and adhere to all HazMat, Confined Space and LOTO trainings 10. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge: • Basic electrical/mechanical knowledge required. Must be familiar with electrical schematics. • Successful completion of the technician test administered by Bob Evans Farms. • Understanding of basic lock-out, tag-out procedures. • Requires judgment to make decisions regarding sequence of maintenance operations to be performed within the limits of standard practice. • Ability to work in somewhat disagreeable conditions, dust, noise, fumes and vibrations. • Ability to work overtime as require • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Education/Experience: • High School diploma or G.E.D required: A minimum of one or more year’s industrial equipment experience required. Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to lift weights ranging from 10 to more than 100 pounds under 1/3 of the time. This position will be exposed to work in high, precarious place, and outdoor weather conditions under 1/3 of the time. Will work near moving mechanical parts over 2/3 of the time. Typical noise level is loud (examples: metal can manufacture department, large earth-moving equipment).
