Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for ensuring the proper performance of the equipment. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: The primary responsibilities and duties of a Mechanic include: Troubleshooting basic electrical/mechanical problems for processing equipment, which includes peelers, washers, cutting equipment, and cooking equipment. Troubleshooting basic electrical/mechanical problems for steam peelers, brushers, cookers, cutters, sorters, pumps, conveyors, washers, unloading equipment. Troubleshooting basic electrical/mechanical problems for packaging equipment, which includes combination scales, vertical packaging machines (Vertical Bagger), horizontal packaging machines Multivac, fillers, case packers and case erectors, tapers, coders, and hot melt glue machines. Troubleshooting basic electrical/mechanical problems with material handling equipment, which includes conveyors, augers, pumps, blowers, and rebuilt cutting equipment. Understanding the parts inventory system (SAP). Troubleshooting for 3 Phrase electrical motors (480volt). Wiring Motors. Effectively communicating relevant information to fellow employees on the shift and to on-coming employees at shift change. Communicating all process inefficiencies, equipment malfunctions, safety concerns and GMP issues to the Production Supervisor. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Performing preventative maintenance as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Associate degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education tech school, training and/or experience. EXPERIENCE: COMMUNICATION SKILLS: In order to promote a manufacturing environment that is safe and efficient for both personnel and food, the ability to effectively communicate in basic English (both verbal and written) is required. This includes the ability to speak, read and comprehend safety instructions, rules and warnings for self and others in both normal and emergency situations. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: Examples of licenses, certificates, and registrations required: OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to read, write and speak English. Good communication skills. Ability to effectively work with others in a team environment. Possess a basic knowledge of the processing, packaging and material handling equipment. Possess a basic knowledge of the utilities in the plant and be able to maintain the equipment. Awareness of ammonia refrigeration systems (if applicable) Welding and torch cutting if applicable Knowledge of SAP software a plus. Forklift operation
