Position Summary

Installs, repairs, and maintains basic electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical components of industrial machinery and equipment.  Performs any variety of basic electricity, mechanical, and hydraulics by performing the following duties.

Essential Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.
• Troubleshooting mechanical problems on equipment; replace parts such as pumps, hydraulics and pneumatic components, gears, oiling equipment, belts, motors, bearings and other mechanical problems.
• Troubleshoot basic electrical circuitry, such as three phase and single phase circuits.
• Stick and mig weld.
• Perform maintenance on cranes and other lifting equipment.
• Performs plant, machinery, and equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance as needed.
• Replace burned or frayed wiring, fuses, lights, and switches.
• Repair conduits as needed.
• Have the ability to use a volt meter.
• Maintains related records, performs associated handling duties and maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
AA Degree; one to two years technical school; four years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees and management of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Read and comprehend complex blue prints; electrical and hydraulic schematics, a thorough knowledge of electrical wiring techniques and the ability to use precision electrical measuring instruments. All candidates will be required to pas a hands on maintenance test.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
