Multi-Craft Technician
Rate: $34.90 - $39.26 / hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
Career Opportunity:
The Multi-Craft Technician maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Possessing welding and machining skills is a plus. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing for the unionized plant. Position will be on an off shift.
How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:
Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment. Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements. Advises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components. Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved. Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed. Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting. Assists and trains other maintenance and/or other technical level employees. Must be willing to work any shift / schedule2-3 year of electro automation system installation and troubleshooting experienceOperational knowledge of automated industrial machinery which includes, motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3 phase power, communication devices, industrial/electronic controls and power transmission systems.Ability to install and set up both A/C and D/C drivesPLC troubleshooting and problem-solving ability with practical, mechanical, and electrical aptitude.Able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawingsWorking knowledge of encoders and various types of sensorsWorking knowledge of power transmission equipment, bearings, pneumatics and hydraulicsPerforms other duties as required.
What you need to succeed:
High school diploma or equivalent experience required.Military training or technical school preferredProven experience in the mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas. Computer experience/operation. Troubleshoot with or up to PLC.High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required. Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.Must be highly safety conscious.5 years in troubleshooting industrial electrical control systems down to component levelAbility to work independentlyAbility to work flexible hours / non-traditional schedules and overtime as requiredExperience in a manufacturing environment preferred - Corrugated industry background is a plus.What we offer:
