Summary Statement
As a Maintenance Technician Lead - Infrastructure with Boise Parks and Recreation, you'll be at the heart of preserving and enhancing our community's most cherished spaces. From overseeing skilled maintenance and construction work on buildings, waterways, and pathways to leading work crews on repair and improvement projects, this role ensures that Boise remains beautiful and accessible for all.

Essential Functions
Maintains and repairs buildings, park restrooms and amenities and other structures. Removes snow and winterizes park restrooms.
Builds site amenities and structures using blueprints and various designs. Constructs framing, installs drywall and paints surfaces for new structures and office remodel projects. Calculates construction material quantities needed for projects and purchases materials.
Maintains key and lock security systems. Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces existing outlets, switches, light fixtures and sensors to Uniform Building Code (UBC) specifications.
Designs and fabricates site amenities. Uses welding equipment to fabricate and repair various metal structures.
Maintains and repairs various waterways and ponds. Repairs gabion baskets and maintains gravel pathways. Repairs and maintains concrete and asphalt in parking lots and roads. Replaces concrete walkways and curbs.
Operates all large and small heavy equipment in the department, and oversees work crews.
Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
High school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience in performing skilled trades.
Knowledge of: structural repair to buildings and hard surface areas; the City of Boise's purchasing and bid requirements; pipe fitting and installation methods; tools utilized in construction trades; safety procedures in basic construction and in using medium- to large-equipment; and computer usage including related software.
Ability to: maintain American Welding Society certification with annual training and retesting; make decisions and delegate tasks; guide, train and oversee maintenance workers; enforce compliance with all regulations, standards and guidelines; operate and make emergency repairs to equipment; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Six years of experience in municipal maintenance plus two years of experience in a leadership capacity.
Licensing And Other Requirements
Valid Class A commercial driver’s license.
American Welding Society certification.
Valid state-issued driver's license.
First Aid and CPR certification.
Confined space certification.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be able to pass:
City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Drug Free Workplace: In accordance with the City of Boise Drug Free Workplace Regulation, this position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to testing requirements including Post Offer Applicant Testing, Random Testing, Reasonable Suspicion, Post - Accident, etc. Applicants will be required to submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to hire. Appointment to this position is contingent upon a negative pre-employment drug test.
Persons in this position must have a CDL that can handle a gross combination weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds inclusive of the towed unit with a gross vehicle weight rating of more than 10,000 pounds.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 100 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds and rarely pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include outdoor weather conditions. Employees are exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, work in/at heights and confined spaces. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to chemicals.
