Maintenance Technician - 12hours / Night Shift
Business Unit Overview 8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm. Responsibilities The Maintenance Technicians are responsible for maintaining and repairing all equipment for 8th Avenue. MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Will be assigned to either processing or packaging area of the plant on any given day. This would be first area of priority for breakdown response. 2. Respond to breakdown calls throughout the plant for both mechanical and electrical problems. 3. Work on PMs and W0s as requested by Maintenance Lead Technicians or Coordinator. 4. Involved with Projects as requested by the Plant Engineer or Maintenance Lead Technician. 5. Lead/assist with line changeovers as requested by the Maintenance Lead Technician or Production Coordinator. 6. Troubleshoot, adjust, and repair packaging equipment, production equipment, flour-conveying systems, work-in-process and warehouse equipment. 7. Set up and /or modify equipment for changeovers from different items. 8. Perform preventative maintenance inspections and routine lubrication and preventative maintenance on all equipment per checklists and /or manufactures’ procedures. 9. Document of work accomplished utilizing shift turnover forms, checklist’s and logbooks. 10. Following quality control standards, safety regulations, standard operating procedures, good manufacturing practices and good sanitation practices. 11. Detect faulty operations and defective materials and refer questionable situations to Coordinators. 12. Maintain the work and shop areas, tools, and equipment in a clean and proper manner. 13. Must be able to weld using all types of in-house welding equipment safety and to complete hot work permit requirements. 14. Must be able to use large and small machining equipment, drills grinders, lathe, band saws, etc., safely and correctly. 15. Construct and modify production, packaging and warehouse equipment from verbal instruction or blueprints. 16. Work with all Managers, Coordinators, and operators to repair maintenance concerns in a timely manner. 17. Train other mechanics and employees. 18. Must have working knowledge of boiler equipment including water pumps, water mixing valves and controls. 19. Must have a working knowledge of all building HVAC systems. 20. Must have working knowledge of all closed loop chilled water systems. 21. Trouble shoot and repair press vacuum systems. 22. Perform water-testing analysis per manufacture specifications. 23. Perform weekly fire inspections. 24. Must have regular and punctual attendance. 25. All other duties assigned by a Coordinator or a Manager. PRODUCT QUALITY & FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: • As an employee of 8th Avenue you share in the responsibility for producing a food product that meets established specifications of the highest quality and is safe and wholesome. • It is every 8th Avenue employee’s responsibility to immediately report any incident or situation that may compromises any of the above factors or issues to their immediate Supervisor and if unavailable to the Quality Assurance Technicians and/or a Manager at the plant. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/ REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PERFORM MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical requirements 1. Ability to repair and adjust all packaging lines and supporting equipment in a reasonable amount of time. 2. Ability to repair and adjust all production lines and supporting equipment in a reasonable amount of time. 3. Ability to repair and adjust all warehouse palletizers and conveying equipment in a reasonable amount to time. 4. Ability to read schematics and blueprints. 5. Ability to use cutting torch safely. 6. Ability to weld with stick and wire feed welder. 7. Ability to complete projects as assigned by the Plant Engineer and Maintenance Coordinator. 8. Licensed to operate all types of forklifts and material handling equipment. 9. Working knowledge of gearbox, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, etc. 10. Understanding of boilers, chilled water systems and HVAC equipment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Able to work from heights either from a ladder, manlift and/or platform. 3. Able to work in room temperatures in excess of 85 degrees Fahrenheit. 4. Able to work in high noise area. 5. Able to work in extreme outside temperatures for a limited time. 6. Able to work in a dusty area. 7. Able to respond to pages on a PA system. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School diploma or equivalent GED Experience: Training/certification and/or background experience in industrial maintenance function. Licensed to operate all types of forklifts and material handling equipment.
