The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the operation of all plant systems and equipment. Including but not limited to balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts bearings, forklifts, wheel loaders tractors and trailers. This position must respond to all system failures by taking appropriate corrective action by completing or assigning the repairs needed to ensure that systems are operational and are functioning safely and efficiently.



 

Duties & Responsibilities

Performs repairs in accordance with Company Safety and OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) requirementsPerforms preventive maintenance inspection (PM); diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment/components including but not limited to balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, electro-magnetic belts, optical sorters, diverters, compressors, trash compactors, motors, glass breakers, wire tie systems, fans, pumps, forklifts, and building equipmentEstablishes and adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules and advises leadership if additional work is needed or cannot be completed within the Standard Repair TimesInspects the quality of third-party repairs and or rebuildsRecommends measures to improve production, equipment performance and product qualitySafely operates tools and equipment needed during the repair and servicing of equipmentDiagnose defects and repair a variety of equipmentEstimate time and materials required to perform major repairsPerforms service calls for emergency breakdownsMaintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety proceduresPerform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

High School diploma or GEDThree (3) or more years of mechanical experienceMust have own tools appropriate for positionAbility to work a flexible schedule which may include nights and weekends to support operations and the needs of the facility

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on equipmentAbility to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of the company equipmentKnowledge of OSHA and other state and federal regulationsAbility to communicate effectively with internal and external customersDemonstrate continuous effort to improve operation, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer serviceExcellent analytical, attention to detail, and problem-solving skillsAbility to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objectsAbility to coordinate two or more limbs (for example: two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standingKnowledge of proper lifting techniques
