About the role II.ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior which may lead to accidents. Continually endorse the Quality & Food Safety Policies, assure conformance to all requirements of the Quality & Food Safety Management Systems, & take action to properly report failures of these systems to site management.III. Key responsibilities Responsible for ensuring equipment is available and online to meet production goals Troubleshoot and make repairs to existing plant equipment, install new equipment, and building maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor. Maintain a positive attitude amidst unplanned events and a willingness to be flexible with work volume and type. Willingness to contribute to the greater plant as a liaison to safety, quality, engineering, or production programs. IV.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. A.Essential Functions: 1.Provide support to plant operations and other teams on their assigned shift to ensure equipment is available as needed for production 2.Execute urgent work orders and special projects. 3.Work with various hand tools, power tools, welders and cutting equipment to repair plant equipment 4.Perform sanitary and non-sanitary welding and pipe fitting, per skill level 5.Repair, assembly and installation of sanitary and utility service valves 6.Where applicable, assist in repair refrigeration and air conditioning equipment; work with ammonia and freon with proper licensed Technicians. Perform daily PMs as assigned 7.Perform rotating equipment PMs and repairs and checks by scheduled due date, including replacement of mechanical seals, impellers, and bearings 8.Check and monitor cooling tower chemical/oil levels, pumps and systems. 9.Ability to proficiently use Kerry Systems; to include SAP, CMMS and MySuccess 10.Operate forklift and aerial lifts 11.Help as required in the parts storeroom 12.Contribute to plant-wide programs in safety, quality, engineering, or production 13.May periodically be asked to serve as on call outside of standard scheduled hours to support critical work. During on call times, must be available via phone and to come on site as needed B.Marginal Functions: 1.Fabricate threaded pipe runs for low pressure steam and plumbing, pneumatic, and control systems 2.Help as required in the parts storeroom 3.Contribute to plant-wide programs in safety, quality, engineering, or production Qualifications and skills A. EDUCATION:High school diploma or GED. B.EXPERIENCE:At least 3 years experience in an industrial maintenance environment required. Prior experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred. Experience troubleshooting and resolving more complex maintenance issues without direct oversight preferred. D. SKILLSMechanical repair, general welding, ability to use hand tools, hand-held power tools, and basic computer skillsMust have the ability to work alone and in close cooperation with production personnel. Capable of working through complex problems alone or with others to provide logical solutions VII.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: A Maintenance TechWorker will be subject to working in areas of high noise level and in hazardous areas. Burn hazards may exist when working on steam powered equipment. High degree of mobility is necessary as job requires climbing, crawling, bending, and twisting. Must be comfortable working from elevated surfaces, including ladders & manlifts, sometimes at heights exceeding 20 feet above the floor. Vessel entry and working in confined spaces may be required. Exposure to chemicals can periodically occur. Proper PPE is provided to mitigate the impact of any on-the-job hazards, consistent with OSHA and Kerry HSE requirements. The ability to work outside for periods of time in temperatures varying from below zero to above 100F is also required. The ability to apply force to lift heavy equipment and operate wrenches, hammers, pry bars, etc. and apply sufficient force to tighten large nuts and bolts is also required. The ability to regularly lift 25 lbs is required as well as the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
