Maintenance Technician

Location: Twin Town

Position: Maintenance Technician 

Pay: DOE 

Duties and responsibilities

The following duties are routine for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

Collect/dispose of trash and litter and empty trash receptacles. Clean, service and check fluids and batteries of vehicles and small gas engines. Maintain sidewalks, driveways, and other concrete surfaces (snow shoveling and removal). Maintain foliage, grass, shrubs, etc. and adjust sprinkler heads as/if applicable. Maintain interior structure; walls, floors, windows, ceilings, light fixtures and lights, vents, etc. Maintain exterior structure; fences, ledges, hinges, etc. Order, deliver, receive and inventory equipment and supplies both to facility and to other county locations. Inspect, assemble, deliver office furniture/fixtures and maintain storage areas for surplus. Assist tradesperson or contractor in locating equipment and/or setting it up. May assist with office moves.

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC)

   

 

Remove/replace/clean filters and other duties as assigned.

Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance

  Maintain underground sprinklers as/if applicable. Perform minor tune-up and lubrication of small gas engines. May repair lamps and lighting fixtures.

Building Structural Maintenance

  Replace wall and floor tiles (ceramic, plastic) and maintain painted surfaces. Maintain suspended acoustical ceiling system. Install ready-made cabinets and counters. Mount and frame pictures, certificates, etc.

Qualifications

18 years of age or older High school diploma or GED Post secondary education in aligned field (i.e. vocational technical college) - preferred Ability to pass a Minnesota DHS background study to work with vulnerable youth and adults A minimum of two years freedom from chemical abuse problems Computer skills for the operation of computer programs for BAS, CMMS and other facilities maintenance functions - preferred

Required Skills, Knowledge and Ability

Licensing and Certificates:

Valid driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  HVAC/R operations, maintenance and repair including boilers, chillers, air handling systems, piping systems, pumps, air conditioning/refrigeration systems, emergency generators, commercial kitchen equipment and building/equipment electrical systems; pneumatic and DDC theory—circuits, tests and instruments, understanding of building construction and carpentry principles and methods; OSHA safety issues; techniques for cutting, brazing, heating, and shaping metals; general building and appliance repair; the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job. 

Ability to: work independently with limited or no supervision; work within small and confined spaces and from portable ladders at varying heights; use foot-eye-hand coordination; lift, reach, grasp, and carry equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds; distinguish colors for water treatment tests; gain cooperation of other people; work as a team member; perform/work and concentrate amid distractions; make rapid, accurate decisions; attend to several tasks simultaneously; learn and understand technical materials, specifications, pneumatic/electrical schematics, and building blueprints; prepare and maintain reports and logs.

Skills in: operating and maintaining HVAC/R electrical systems and their apparatuses in a safe, responsible and efficient manner; operating power/hand tools and machines, basic carpentry skills and associated best practices consistent with building codes/standards; general use of computers, email and related software and communication applications.
