Maintenance Technician

Job Title:  Maintenance Technician

Reports To:   Maintenance Supervisor

General Responsibilities:

Requisition parts and material from supply system Start equipment/machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems Dismantle equipment/machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, hoist or forklift Install, replace, or change equipment/machine parts and attachments, according to specifications Inspect or test damaged machine parts, discuss with operators, other maintenance personnel and supervisor to determine cause of failure and implement improvements to prevent repeat failure Clean machines/equipment using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment Perform predictive and preventative tasks assigned by supervisor and provide feedback for process improvements Inspect and maintain facilities and support equipment such as air compressors, pumps, HVAC and general plumbing and piping Respond promptly to production equipment breakdowns, coordinate with co-workers and production personnel to determine problem and perform corrections to return equipment to operation Follow all safety policies and procedures to ensure safety to self and others

Job Skills Requirements:

Good mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills Strong problem solving experience Good knowledge and experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and cooling water systems and components including ability to read prints and schematics Good welding and fabrication skills Basic knowledge of manual lathe operation Excellent communication skills written and oral Good knowledge of rigging procedures and experience Basic knowledge of electricity Ability to use precision measuring and alignment equipment such as, micrometers, calipers, laser aligning and precision levels

Safety Training Requirements:

Standard safety training Confined space entry Equipment Lockout/tagout (detailed) Fire extinguisher training

Educational and/or Experience Requirements:

Journeyman Certificate, OR Industrial Maintenance technical degree with three to five years experience, OR Eight to ten years practical experience

General Physical Requirements:

Stooping, kneeling, crouching,  visual activity Climbing, reaching, balancing, walking, grasping Pulling, pushing,  lifting 50 lbs. and over Extreme temperatures Noise, atmospheric conditions, oils/coolant.
