The Maintenance Technician is a hands-on position, that provides technical expertise and oversees and participates in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of facility equipment to reduce downtime while increasing operational efficiency in a validated cGMP environment. This equipment includes machinery, buildings, computer systems, control systems, safety, and security systems. Additionally, this position includes responsibility for maintaining shop tools, inventory, and keeping the department’s CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) updated all while adhering to Lean and 5S principles. This is a night shift position: 7:00pm-7:00am Mon-Thur.
What You'll Do as a Maintenance Technician Performs technical troubleshooting on a variety of modalities and technologies. Performs regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on high volume, validated processing equipment. Reviews preventative maintenance tasks for effectiveness and frequency and recommends any continuous improvement changes or Lean practices for implementation to management. Diagnoses potential or actual equipment issues through observation, problem identification, and analysis, utilizing available information (e.g., cycle printouts, blueprints, schematics); ensures appropriate and efficient corrective action. Completes operations and project work through construction and/or installation of systems including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems while complying with all federal and state safety regulations and local safety policies and procedures, including ensuring employee safety by adhering to all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, and following SDS safety procedures when using chemicals. Strives for continuous improvement by analyzing new or alternative ways to improve operations; incorporates staff recommendations into analysis; responds to audit activities in a constructive manner. Contributes in a team effort by performing in accordance to all STERIS policies, cGMP, Lean principles and other directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher level management and performs other duties as assigned.The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
HS diploma or equivalent Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience working in manufacturing or operations environment Working knowledge of PLC. Ability to read, interpret, and practically apply electrical ladder diagrams and mechanical blueprints. Working knowledge of CMMS (SAP, MP2, eMaintenance, etc.) Ability to lift up to 25 lbs or regular basis. Occasionally, up to 50 lbs.
