Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and install machinery and equipment. The role involves monitoring equipment to detect malfunctions, discussing machine operation variations with supervisors or team members to diagnose problems, and repairing machines. This position also includes the installation, repair, or replacement of electrical devices, pipe systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, automated machinery, Programmable Logic Controllers, refrigeration, and HVAC equipment. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician will service and repair material handling equipment, monitor the main electrical panel, and maintain boilers, water heaters, and water distribution systems.

ResponsibilitiesInspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and install machinery and equipmentMonitor equipment to detect malfunctionsDiscuss machine operation variations with supervisor or team members to diagnose problems and repair machinesInstall, repair, or replace electrical devices such as transformers, relays, circuit breakers, starters, and safety and limit switchesLayout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipmentInstall, program, and troubleshoot automated machinery and Programmable Logic ControllersInstall, troubleshoot, and repair refrigeration and HVAC equipmentService and repair material handling equipmentMonitor main electrical panel and troubleshoot as necessaryRepair and maintain boilers, water heaters, water conditioning equipment, and all water distribution systemsFollow established preventative maintenance guidelinesCoordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance for machinesPerform all necessary maintenance and update logs as necessaryReport major problems to supervisorMaintain building through painting, repairing minor structural problems, and other repairs as necessaryRepair and maintain physical structure of establishmentPerform general maintenance repairs of office and buildingEnsure proper adherence to all safety and government guidelinesIdentify safety issues with machines; document issues; develop action plan to resolve concerns; follow-up to ensure problems are resolvedMonitor machines to ensure all levels are within EPA, OSHA, and other government guidelines; develop action plan to resolve issues if not; follow-up to ensure problems are resolvedAssist in the control and scheduling of projectsMonitor inventory and order parts as necessaryMonitor energy usage and provide recommendations on better usageEssential SkillsHVACPLC troubleshootingMaintenanceEPA certificationTroubleshootingElectricalHydraulicsPneumaticsMechanicalRepairPreventive maintenanceSchematic3 phaseBlueprint readingAdditional Skills & QualificationsProactive and self-motivatedAbility to evaluate and repair all types of mechanical and electrical equipmentAbility to perform under extreme stress during equipment failureHigh School Diploma, Technical School Training (2 years), or 3 to 4 years related experience, or licensed journeyman of a skilled tradeBasic computer skills for word processing and spreadsheetsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical and electrical schematic diagramsEffective communication skills in oral and written formProblem-solving skills and ability to draw conclusionsInterpret technical instructions and diagramsEPA Refrigeration Certification (Type II or higher) – Federal requirement for team leaders or maintenance techs servicing or handling refrigeration equipmentWhy Work Here?

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, you will frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts. You may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, explosion, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be high. A strong safety awareness is necessary to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of BATON ROUGE, Louisiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $33.00/hr.
