Maintenance Technician
Responsibilities Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for a Maintenance Technician position. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the performance and completion of ongoing facility maintenance and repairs. Essential Job Responsibilities: Responsible for the deliveries of hospital supplies and shipping and receiving as needed. Assisting with the movement of hospital furniture and equipment as needed. Ensures that all work performed meets required codes. Completes assigned work orders in a timely manner, prioritizing repairs that could negatively impact patient safety. Maintains and organizes assigned storage areas. Maintains and responds to lighting and plumbing issues and concerns throughout the hospital. Performs monthly safety checks and responds to maintenance emergencies in a timely manner. Completes basic and routine handy work (fixing door locks, hanging pictures, etc.) Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to safety glasses, gloves, N-95 mask. Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials and work areas. Models and promotes safe work practices that are consistent with safety programs and initiatives. Participates in the Annual Skills Update education program as it relates to the Hospital’s Safety and Fire Prevention Program Participates in the on-call rotation, responding to after -hours maintenance emergencies in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned. Previous experience with H.V.A.C systems and auxiliary power supply systems Ability to work with hand and power tools Must be able to participate in the after-hours maintenance on-call schedule and respond to maintenance emergencies.
