Position: Maintenance Technician Department: Operations Reports To: Director of Operations FLSA Status: Full-Time/ Hourly/ Non-Exempt Position Summary Under general supervision, perform work as needed to maintain and repair facility operating systems during event times, as well as during regular operational times. Duties include skilled and semi-skilled tasks, which often require heavy lifting and a high degree of physical exertion. In addition to these responsibilities, act as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring that all client requirements are met, and facility rules, regulations and policies are followed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Perform general building maintenance to include wall patching, painting, carpentry, plumbing repairs, re-lamping, replacing ceiling tiles, and basic electrical repairs. + Interpret, explain and apply building codes, rules and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities to ensure building compliance. + Troubleshoot various maintenance problems in and around the facility and performs repairs as necessary. + Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly fashion, storing tools and equipment properly with an attention to safety and housekeeping. + Follow all preventative maintenance programs, energy management programs, emergency management programs and standard operating procedures of the facility. + Notify the Director of Operations of any equipment in need of repairs or when supply inventories are low. + Perform all other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience + Two or more years of relevant experience in general repair and preventative maintenance. + Demonstrated knowledge of standard techniques in painting, plumbing, carpentry, building hardware, and electrical/lighting systems. + Some trade school coursework and/or certificates preferred. + Ability to obtain a license and safely operate both a forklift and scissor lift. Skills and Abilities + Carry out tasks in a reliable, productive, and expedient manner, adhering to strict deadlines. + Recognize and use simple hand-held, manual and power tools required for performance of general maintenance duties. + Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered during the performance of duties. + Work with minimum supervision, operating independently in a fast-paced environment. + Understand verbal and written instructions, with the ability to read and understand English. Computer Skills + Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs to include Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Other Qualifications + Work long and irregular hours that may vary due to event functions, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
