Maintenance Technician (GV1)

Job Description

Perform wide variety of general building maintenance, repair function and equipment tests related to the care and maintenance of the Health System's mechanical systems, building structure and Fire and Safety equipment. Adheres to departmental Policies and Procedure and Ensures safety and compliance with regulatory agencies.

Job Responsibility

 

* Constructs, repairs, replaces and maintains structural woodwork and masonry to interior and exterior of building, using both hand and power tools. * Repairs furniture, equipment, and machinery. * Installs and repairs minor electrical equipment and lighting fixtures. * Performs minor plumbing jobs. * Repairs roofs, roads, sidewalks and interior and exterior stairs and steps. * Makes minor repairs to heating, air conditioning, ventilating equipment and small scale painting. * Makes cost-reduction recommendations to management that adhere to policies and procedures, for electrical, fire safety, HVAC and plumbing systems. * Assists in removal of snow.Serves as a member of the Fire Response Team and responds to emergencies. * Responds to facilities emergencies, as needed. Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

 

High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience. Certified by FDNYC to conduct sprinkler, smoke detectors, fire doors, standpipe, fire hoses, fire pump and extinguishers tests, required. Ability to use tools related to the carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and mechanical trades. FDNYC certified for G17 Medical Gas and G60, preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
