The Maintenance Technician I will be responsible for a variety of job duties revolving around the efficient operation of the Distribution Center. This will include performing preventative maintenance, routine maintenance and equipment testing, repair and maintenance of material handling equipment, and working with outside vendors. The Maintenance Technician I will also assist in maintaining the grounds.
Job duties:
Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to maintain the facility and equipment. Performs regular tests to systems including fire suppression, emergency lighting, etc. Troubleshoots semi-complex problems and understand resources needed to resolve them. Repairs and ensures proper maintenance of material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, order pickers, belt tracking, component adjustment/replacement, component lubrication, etc. Responds to service calls and corrects equipment failures and faults. Performs general repair and maintenance work as directed by the Facilities Manager. Completes work orders in the computerized maintenance management system. Places work orders as necessary for escalated repair needs. Serves as a liaison with outside vendors who maintain the facility. Assists in maintaining and operating heating and cooling equipment, boilers, plumbing, and fire suppression systems. Provides basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance. Coordinates the maintenance of grounds by collaborating with outside vendors regarding provided services and ensuring routine grounds keeping between vendor visits in order to maintain site safety standards. Assists with the removal of trash and recycling from the facility. Installs and moves work areas and furniture.Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. 1 year of facility maintenance experience preferred. Knowledge of facility industry standards and building codes preferred. Experience maintaining building control systems, mechanical systems, conveying systems is ideal and forklifts preferred. Training available. Excellent time management skills, the ability to multi-task and prioritize work including strong problem-solving skills and communication skills is required. Mechanical experience with gearboxes, sprockets, chains, bearings, guide rollers, etc. a plus.
