SummaryThe Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of equipment, diagnose, rebuild, adjust, perform preventative maintenance, and install equipment within and around the facilities to keep the production operational and have zero loss of production chargeable to maintenance. They will be in charge of assigning tasks to and supervising the maintenance technicians, ensuring that jobs are completed in a timely and safe manner. This position is also responsible for carrying out work as assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent.
3rd shift - 10:00pm-6:30am
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities Supervise a team of maintenance technicians, assigning task and oversee the completion of Preventative Maintenance (PM) and work orders in a timely and accurate fashion. Make orderly plans for work within given time constraints to gain maximum utilization of people and equipment. Arrange/order materials before jobs start. Analyze reoccurring problems and develop solutions for example: Design changes in equipment and reallocation of tasks to improve efficiencies. Develop a team approach to jobs being careful to assign jobs to associates that are cable of completing the task. Report progress as required. Keep the Maintenance Superintendent informed if any critical situations occur (example: catastrophic downtime). Ensure proper records and charts of equipment performance percentages are maintained on a timely basis. Assist other Lead Mechanics with difficulties. Generate work orders as necessary repairs are discovered.Report any personnel issues to the Maintenance Manager. Examples include but are not limited to:
Transfer requests Leave of absences, sick days, tardiness, absenteeism, and resignations Alcohol or drug impairment on the job. Maintain and monitor safe work habits including lock out/tag out, hot work permit and confined space entry. Coach associates on their responsibilities including: Proper starting time and quitting times Job performance (training, feedback, necessary checks of assigned work, etc) Abiding by all rules and regulations Report any disciplinary problems to the Maintenance Manager. The Lead Maintenance Mechanic will NOT be responsible for administering disciplinary action. Adhere to all safety requirements including preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions. Minimum EducationHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent and two years of Technical college or relevant training is strongly preferred.
Experience Requirements 5+ years experience maintaining manufacturing systems and equipment in an automated plant as well as training/experience with compressed air systems, boilers, pneumatics, and hydraulics, etc. Read/write English, math and analytical skills are required. Able to make correct calculations when completing mechanical, electrical or electronic maintenance repairs. Must have all personal tools at all times and be able to use and operate hand tools and industrial shop equipment. Working knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot PLCs. Must have a valid Driver's License and a clean Motor Vehicle Record. Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervisionEnvironmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position is active. On the plant floor activities such as troubleshooting and re-design of existing systems are routine. May need to move equipment occasionally. Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures ranging from 28 – 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. Noise levels ranging from 85 - 88 db. Exposure to iodine at hand wash station. Light intensity above 50' candles. May be exposed to all chemicals used in a poultry, food, processing facility. Ability to lift 80 lbs., Ability to move throughout the department. Must wear and use protective safety equipment required for the job as directed by the company.
