Basic Qualifications:
Must have completed a recognized, appropriate Maintenance Mechanical Multi-craft apprenticeship or have at least eight (8) years of relevant on-the-job experience, to include industrial fabrication and maintenance weld or completed two (2) years of secondary vocational school and four (4) years of relevant on-the-job experience
High school diploma or GED is required3-5 years of experienceAbility to calculate figures and amounts and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometryMust be able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formAbility to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Summary: Howmet Structure Systems has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician located at our Niles Facility. This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance operation and preventative maintenance of manufacturing equipment within the plant.
Primary Function:
Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate:
Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment
Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance technicians to diagnose the problem or repair the machineInspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklistsClean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machineryRecord maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the workTroubleshoot and repair various aspects of production machinery, including saws, hydraulic presses and associated forging equipment:
