Maintenance Technician- Mechanical MPZ

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

 

Responsible for routine preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on MPZ production and related equipment as designated by the MPZ Maintenance Supervisor. Performs routine preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on specific facility and infrastructure items that are assigned to MPZ; Performs engineering and other special project work such as the installation/startup of new equipment or the rebuilding/renovation/modification of existing equipment. Emergency and unscheduled repairs are performed in a timely manner, taking into account the need to minimize the impact of production, production-related and infrastructure equipment downtime Communication with responsible operating personnel is clear and timely in order to keep them informed of equipment issues and maintenance status, to maximize employee safety and to facilitate the ongoing production schedule All work is performed in accordance with equipment manuals, MPZ maintenance procedures, Coherent policies (e.g. lock-out/tag-out, hot work, fork-/man-lift) and generally accepted safe work practices Routine maintenance supplies/inventories are procured/updated as needed in order to prevent unnecessary PM or repair project delays

Education & Experience

Minimum # yr. experience 1-5 yrs. H.S. Diploma or equivalent.

Skills

Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills. Requires a high concentration level with attention to details for routine operation much of the time Strong mechanical aptitude Required to implement the Integrated Contingency Plan and MPZ Department Standard Operating Procedures during a variety of First Responder incidents, events or situations Welding knowledge is a plus

Working Conditions

Daylight shift pattern under normal circumstances; Transition to a multiple-shift rotation will occur when department needs dictate  Facility includes separate locations and multiple production areas Maintenance of process and support systems/equipment that involve the use of toxic substances requiring significant attention to detail Exposure to dust, fumes, heat, noise and cold
 

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 50#, work in confined spaces, and potentially difficult positions.  Must be able to where a respirator and SCBA Job requires working above grade with proper use of step or extension ladders and different types of powered man lifts.

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
