Job Summary: This position provides maintenance support to outlying medical offices and other hospital-related business offices. You will travel to multiple buildings providing preventative maintenance services such as fire extinguisher inspections and changing lights & filters, perform maintenance projects, such as door and plumbing repairs, oversee contractors on major projects, and emergency response to water leaks and HVAC failures. Must have positive people skills and a can-do attitude, and be able to work quietly and discreetly around patients. You must be able to balance working independently with getting proper input and direction from your supervisor. Plan and perform a wide variety of minor plumbing, mechanical, electrical, carpentry maintenance and installation of all types of equipment. Perform corrective maintenance necessary to complete maintenance requests. Follow-up and initiate necessary actions needed to ensure that all needs for maintenance are met in a timely manner. You will need to coordinate and supervise outside contractors to ensure work and cleanup is complete, but also be willing to pick up trash on the grounds when necessary. Provide the current status of all maintenance requests in a timely manner. Maintain any related documentation required; ensuring all maintenance requests are tracked properly. Order material needed to complete work. Perform any assigned PM duties and other responsibilities as required by your supervisor. Assist with scheduling utility shutdowns due to construction and or maintenance. May need to assist on hospital campus at times. Qualify for on call, weekend and off shift relief work.
Qualifications:
+ High School diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in related field preferred.
+ Must be multi-talented with at least one year of specialized training as an electrician, mechanic, plumber, carpenter II or HVAC technician preferred.
+ Prefer three years of experience in a health care or office setting as an electrician, plumber, mechanic, carpenter II, or HVAC technician.
+ Be familiar with electrical codes, lock changing, basic mechanical principles, plumbing maintenance, and motor driven equipment. Have a good knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical work.
+ Experience in installation/repair of many of the following: suspended ceilings; floor covering; ceramic tile; door hardware.
+ Must be able to read and understand prints, schematics and other technical drawings as required to perform duties.
+ Capable of lifting fifty pound weight, and physically able to do the job, including working at a rapid pace and staying on-task.
+ Have a valid North Carolina Driver’s License with no restrictions other than prescription eyeglasses or contacts.
+ Must be capable of climbing of any ladder(s) or scaffolding necessary to perform assigned duties.
+ Must be capable of recognizing wiring color codes.
+ Basic PC skills required.
