Job: Maintenance Trades Helper
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

There are no direct reports with this position.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintenance Trades Helper provides support and assistance to building maintenance staff. The work type is highly variable, will be accomplished under direct supervision from a skilled maintenance technician, and will be limited to support functions only.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. *Assist building maintenance staff in procuring, obtaining, and preparing tools, equipment, and materials for specific planned maintenance tasks2. *Schedule, coordinate, and escort subcontractor staff3. *Assist with documentation, including sorting and filing of photographs, receipts, logs, checklists, and equipment lists4. *Transport materials, documentation, tools and/or equipment between facilities5. *Maintain equipment and material logs to ensure availability of required bench stock6. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•0-1 year of work experience preferably in construction or maintenance;•Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and respond to questions and requests from customers and peers;•Human relations skills to build and maintain effective working relationships;•Basic mathematical skills and ability to read and interpret units of measure;•Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities;•Ability to track materials resources and time;•Demonstrated organizational, problem solving, and common-sense skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance: •Maneuvering to and around equipment•Standing and walking•Bending, stopping, kneeling and reaching•Lifting of boxes or equipment (up to 35 pounds)•Climbing ladders or step stools•Utilizing basic computer equipment including keyboard, mouse, and monitor
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Working is performed at a customer’s location in an office/shop environment. Equipment may be located in confined spaces, rooftops, and outside areas. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat. Frequent travel to various worksites is required.
