COMPENSATION

Hourly Minimum - Maximum$23.00 - $26.00

Our Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a wide variety of maintenance tasks associated with the care of cemetery grounds and facilities. This position will work under direct supervision or may work individually or with a team of employees. Duties are typical grounds maintenance functions found in any large-scale municipal park or garden. Much of the work will be performed with hand tools and as experience allows, equipment operation will be included in duties. This is an entry-level position and candidates for this position can expect to receive much of their training on the job.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

General grounds clean-up and trash disposal.

Clean and maintain storm drains.

Repair lawn damage.

Mow section and garden lawns.

Trim memorial tablets.

Replant landscapes.

Apply landscape chemicals such as fertilizers, wetting agents, herbicides.

Assist client families and other guests with grounds maintenance requests.

Operate specialized equipment to move materials.

Assist in completing interments.

Assist in set-up and clean-up before and after special events.

Install tents for funeral services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 6 months of experience in a maintenance position.

Valid California Driver’s License.

Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. 

Must have a caring and professional demeanor and enjoy helping families at a difficult time.

Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Must be able to work on-site.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Some previous experience in a mortuary/cemetery position.

Bilingual English/Spanish

High school diploma or GED

DRUG TESTING POLICY

Prior to beginning employment, all job applicants who receive a job offer will be required to voluntarily submit to a drug screening test conducted by a laboratory designated by Forest Lawn. The drug screening method is a hair collection test that will detect the use of illegal drugs within the past 90 days. A positive drug test may result in the withdrawal of the job offer.

Forest Lawn has registered to participate in the federal government's E-Verify program.
