Major Gifts Officer
Overview Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer & Ex, the Major Gifts Officer is responsible for cultivating and soliciting leadership major gifts from alumni and individual prospects for New York Medical College’s 3 schools: School of Medicine, School of Health Sciences and Practice, and the Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences. The Major Gift Officer will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting and closing gifts for his/her own portfolio of individual donors. The successful candidate will bring energy, creativity, and a commitment to teamwork to the position, and to our Development efforts. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for: + The planning, execution, and follow-up of major donor cultivation events + Managing a personal portfolio of major gift prospects. + Finding and cultivating new prospects. Ability to work with minimal supervision required. Must be able to accurately handle a large volume of detailed work. Candidates must have excellent computer skills and competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Responsibilities Front line fundraising responsibilities – 65% + Performance would be based upon mutually agreed upon metrics including fundraising events tally and personal portfolio of donors. . Strategic planning – 35% + Create successful fundraisers and “friend raisers” that will grow donor pipeline. + Provide direction to execute strategic events such as the Founder’s Dinner + Prospect management – identify strategies to move annual fund donors to major gifts. Qualifications Education requirement:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year institution. Technical/computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite Raiser’s Edge or other comparable fundraising software Prior experience: 5+ years experience in fundraising, preferably higher education Direct solicitation of 5-6 figure major gifts Minimum Salary USD $95,000.00/Yr. Maximum Salary USD $105,000.00/Yr.
