Job Overview:

Serving as an integral member of the fundraising team, the Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is responsible for building relationships with and securing leadership gifts $5K+ from qualified prospects in support of the hospital and healthcare system s priorities. This position helps identify philanthropic prospects through analytical review of donor and prospect lists, employment of proven moves management techniques to obtain and increase annual support of hospital priorities. The MGO will be familiar with all facets of development included in portfolio management. Skilled at guiding donors through various gift.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor s Degree required3-5 years development experience, preferably in a hospital, academic medical center or higher education Previous track record in securing major giftsExceptional written and oral communications skillsAbility to analyze data to identify major gift prospects, making succinct and strategic recommendations for engagementAbility to forge strong working relationships with others including donors, advisors and hospital leaders, and have a capacity for engendering confidence and trustStrong sense of humor, positive attitude, curious intellect, and drive to succeedA passion for the development profession with an intention for career growth based on an organizational mission of delivering the healthcare in deserving communitiesAbility to work and deliver results in a fast-paced setting and navigate a complex organizationAbility to work independently with a collegial spirit Flexibility to work nights and weekends as requiredWillingness to work in-person as required with remote flexibility for work-related travel and other needs as appropriate

Essential Functions:

Focus his/her efforts on major gift prospects (individuals capable of contributing leadership gifts of $1K+ annually in support of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital). Primarily responsible for managing an active portfolio for this position should include at least 40 active donors with a goal of cycling through 100-150 donors/year. Develop and implement overarching fundraising strategies to encourage donor growth, with tactics including but not limited to in person solicitations, donor and patient lists review, grateful patient and physician engagement, and other creative engagement opportunities. Qualifies major donors and refers prospects to VP, Principal Gift Officer or other gift officers as appropriate. Collaborate with fundraising team to develop and implement comprehensive stewardship plans for assigned donors.Participate in regular strategy meetings to support and drive execution of major gift road maps toward effective moves management with a focus on solicitations and correspondingly ensure activity goals around donor contact (calls, written communications, and donor meetings) are met.Prepare donor profiles, presentations, proposals and gift agreements for assigned prospects and may be asked to support Foundation VP with the same. Other duties related to pipeline building and major gifts, as assigned.

Hospital & Development Initiatives

Become familiar with all hospital funding priorities to understand and outline opportunities for support that align with donor interests.

Database Management

Record and report on all solicitations and activity around cultivating and stewarding of major gift prospects in Raiser s Edge NXT database on a timely basis.
