With hospitals in Lufkin Livingston and San Augustine CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial provides millions of dollars in charity care and community support each year. **Responsibilities** Position Summary: Performs mammography studies inclusive of positioning patient, calibration of equipment, produces and digitally archives images, documentation of findings, under the direction of the Medical Director and Director of Imaging Services. Prepares Mammography Suites; performs quality assurance. Maintains patient safety through attention to detail, equipment safety checks, adherence to department policies, and effective communication with physicians, staff and patients. Provides patient orientation, procedure explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of test. Assists patients with basic patient care needs. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Mammography Department. Responsible for proper maintenance of equipment, accreditation, and Departmental Performance Improvement. Performs mammography quality assurance tests accurately. 12. Complies with all state/federal requirements and maintains all records in accordance with the policy and procedure manual. 13. Prepares room, equipment, and contrast materials as needed. 14. Introduces self, properly identifies and prepares patient for exam, explains exam to patient, makes patient as comfortable as possible. 15. Consistently produces quality radiographic images. 16. Utilizes PACS to prepare images for the radiologist's interpretation 17. Consistently places proper patient identification, including anatomical markers on film. 18. Adhere to all radiation safety policies, i.e., patient shielding, identifying pregnant patients, and wearing of protective clothing. 19. Demonstrates competence and proficiency with equipment in various locations. 20. Responsible for the completion of procedures ordered on assigned shift. 21. Demonstrates a willingness and ability to assist as requested with other tasks. 22. Demonstrates a willingness to follow the chain of command, regularly channels suggestions, criticisms and questions to the appropriate person. 23. Consistently enters correct exam information in computer system. 24. Examines the requisition for procedure requested, and any additional information or special considerations. 25. Regularly practices aseptic techniques and utilizes Universal Precautions. 26. Provides training for new incoming staff. 27. Consistently produces quality radiographs. 28. Supports department-based goals and contributes to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff. 29. Rotates weekend/call responsibilities in a professional and accountable fashion if applicable. 30. Provides the requesting physician with preliminary findings based on diagnostic criteria established for procedure. 31. Maintains proficiency in ancillary areas of department, i.e., radiology, front desk, patient transport and provides support when needed. 32. Performs duties in accordance with that of hospital policies and procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines. 33. Other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** Education Level Graduate of Radiologic Technology Program from an accredited institution. Licensure/Certification Licensed as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (M RT) with Texas Medical Board (TMB). Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT(R). BLS certification (through an approved AHA program). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Primary Job Focus — Mammography Alpha/numerical dexterity and handwriting skills. Interpersonal skills for communication with patients, visitors, physicians and other hospital personnel. Written and oral communication skills.
