Are you living your life's work? Summary: + The Mammography Educator is responsible for all mammography protocols and education throughout the health system. Working closely with corporate wide staff and Directors as a liaison between physicians, radiologist and vendors, the Mammography Educator promotes the highest standard of patient care and imaging quality, while ensuring the technologists are staying up to date with changing and advancing technology to ensure appropriate protocol, MQSA/FDA standards, quality control and Radiation safety protocol implementation is adhered to and followed. The Mammography Educator travels to various UPHS locations to provide real-time coaching and training to our team of mammographers to ensure consistency in the quality, staff education, and workflows of our mammography departments. Responsibilities: + Standardizes protocol revisions and changes to promote a more efficient workflow for Technologists and the departments, as well as a better patient experience to minimize the potential of repeat examinations. + Ensures standardization and continuity of care for all Mammography exams. Evaluate and reassess the Mammography Protocols/ performance of exams throughout UPHS. + Eliminate/ Rename Exam Codes and Order Sets that are outdated, duplicates, or irrelevant to current performance. + Function as QA/QC coordinator to review scans and communicates with other technologists when improvements are needed or protocols need to be adjusted. + Maintains relationships with sales, service and application specialists from multiple vendors. + Oversight of patient care teams to help optimize protocols to radiologist preference and patient experience. + Assist in project planning, install and turnover of new equipment. + Train current and new hire technologists on new equipment (Siemens, GE, Hologic) and proper positioning. + Plan and develop education modules to ensure technologists are aware of new technology, imaging expectations and ensure consistency. Assist managers with continued progress and development using these systems as a resource for Super User applications. + Create ASRT approved CME’s which helps steers the technologist education to safety and protocols that pertain to UPHS. + Responsible to train all Mammography staff, in UPHS radiology, on protocols in Mammography. + Evaluate all staff for current Mammography knowledge level and abilities + prepare individual learning plans for each staff accordingly. Evaluate learning progress at set intervals. + Provide education to sites on upcoming/ future changes of ARRT and/or MQSA Standards/ Policies. + The incumbent is the expert and responsible for collaborating with Mammography leaders to teach and train all Mammography staff across UPHS. + Recommend equipment upgrades to ensure high quality patient care is being delivered + Develop competency program for technologists to ensure consistent quality across health systems protocols. + Administer competencies and evaluate results of competencies. + Communicate competency results with managerial team. + Proactively seeks out and creates opportunities for self and staff learning. + Operating mammography equipment using proper protocols to produce high quality images. + Takes initiative to resolve issues/concerns from radiology mammographers, physicians, supervisors, UPHS personnel and co-workers. Credentials: + ARRT Diagnostic Radiology Certified (Required) + ARRT Certified Mammography (Required) + BCLS and AED Certified Education or Equivalent Experience: + Bachelor of Arts or Science in Allied Health And 5+ years Academic Hospital and/or Ambulatory Mammography Experience Required + Masters Degree in Healthcare Management preferred We believe that the best care for our patients starts with the best care for our employees.
