May administer ionizing radiation or sonographic waves. Operates imaging equipment, prepares exam room, equipment, and supplies. Provides patient services using imaging modalities. Cross training for Mammography techs with no Breast Ultrasound training will be required, although experience or registry in both is preferred.
The Mammography and Breast Ultrasound Technologist must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in his/her department. The individual must acquire and/or demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. He/she must be able to provide care with consideration of developmental status.
PRIMARY DUTIES\:
Follows the prescribed techniques in administering all applicable procedures to all age ranges as directed by physician.Maintains working inventory of supplies.Prepares patient for procedures, explains procedure, assists patient into proper position.Observes patient and equipment and reports unusual occurrences.Cleans and disinfects room and equipment.Processes images in accordance with standard techniques for both Mammography and Breast USPerforms general office duties.Uses proper radiation safety techniques.Transports and assists in lifting and ambulation of patients.Covers after-hours calls.Performs quality control and quality assurance as required.Scion Health considers a consistently positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous, and professional attitude to be an essential function of every position. High School Diploma or GED required.Required cross training for Breast US if no experience or registration.Registered\:Registration and certification in Mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)Unregistered\:Must be certified by the ARRT in Mammography or another approved modality and documented competency on the provision of mammography or breast ultrasound exams that meet Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) guidelines. Competency for Breast US will be required within 6 months and registration in Breast Ultrasound required on an approved timeline. Current BLS on first day or to be assigned by the Learning CenterPreferred\:
