Working as a Mammography Technologist you will be using independent judgment, perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures utilizing a variety of radiology equipment in applying prescribed ionizing radiation to patients for diagnosis and treatment. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Possesses the ability to assess the data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

Registered Mammography Technologist (ARRT-M) in good standing or Registered Radiographer (ARRT-R) that is registry eligible for Mammography required.Active license required in radiography for the IEMA.Healthcare Provider or Instructor BLS certification required within 30 days of hire

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal and guest relations skills. Responsibilities Position patient and/or equipment to efficiently obtain high quality images, along with selecting the proper technical factors & perform proper views according to department protocol. Maintain knowledge of anatomy and pathology in order to produce high quality images. Review images before completing exam.Coordinate procedures with appropriate departments and personnel as needed.Ensure exams are completed in a prompt manner from receipt or requisition, imaging, and handling for interpretation. Ensure that images are accurate with correct patient information. Make sure comparison images / reports are available. Locate film jacket if necessary for these exams.Utilize effective patient care and communication skills to obtain optimum patient rapport.Monitor patient condition and take appropriate action to ensure continuity of patient care.Ensure patient comfort, safety and modesty throughout procedures.Record patient history and exam information in Penrad.Wears film badge to assure compliance with ALARA standards.Maintain cleanliness of rooms, equipment, and other work areas.Perform clerical and receptionist tasks, which includes scheduling exams and faxing results.Assist with the transportation of patients to and from the Radiology Department as required.
