Mammography Technologist

Summary: Using radiological (X-ray) imaging equipment and standards, the Imaging Technologist – Mammography prepares and performs procedures and tests used to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data under close to moderate supervision. By interviewing and preparing patients with in-depth understanding of the equipment and procedures, this role ensures effective, safe use of this equipment and drives optimal care outcomes. Responsibilities: • Prepares and performs radiological (X-ray) imaging of the breast (mammography). • Reads and comprehends imaging order, engaging with physician when order is unclear, complex or warrants deeper review. Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using knowledge of human anatomy. • Interviews patients to understand risk factors that may warrant a more in-depth examination for safety. • Guides patients, some distressed, through their examination, applying subject matter expertise and cultural competency to explain the exam. Sets expectations and calms patient for effective imaging. • Uploads imaging results into Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Records information into Electronic Medical Recordkeeping (EMR) system. Other information: QUALIFICATIONS Required Graduate of an accredited program in Radiological Science One (1) year of experience working in a clinical imaging role Good understanding of human anatomy - can be established through education or experience Experience reading and interpreting radiology orders Experience working with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Preferred Experience performing stereotactic guided breast biopsies and/or contrast enhanced mammography Advanced certification in Mammography (ARRT-M) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Experience working with EPIC EMR 01.7290.8528 **Job Details** Legal Employer: Pardee - HCHC Entity: Pardee UNC Health Care Organization Unit: Mammography Work Type: Full Time Standard Hours Per Week: 40.00 Work Assignment Type: Onsite Work Schedule: Day Job Location of Job: PARDEECANCR Exempt From Overtime: Exempt: No Qualified applicants will be considered without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
