Mammography Technologists produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under the direction of a physician. In this role, you will explain the procedure to patients, position and immobilize the patient's breast in the unit and observe the scanning process. Throughout this whole process, a compassionate and engaging attitude can help patients feel at-ease and calm, leaving them with a lasting positive impression of provided care. **A caregiver in this position works from 8:00AM - 4:30PM.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Review mammography requisition and computer exam forms to determine the type of exam required. + Accurately position patients, determine the exposure factors, and operate mammography equipment according to established procedures to obtain a high-quality image. + Review processed images to determine quality and the need for additional images. + Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation. + Ensure patients' safety and comfort during and after the exam. + Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via CAD and PACS. + Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork. + Report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator. + Process billing via RIS. + Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state, and federal law and compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.) + Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements. + Perform equipment checks to assure proper function of and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions. + Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies. + Provide teaching and mentoring to new hires and students. + Strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions. + Rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology + Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing + Certification in Mammography: R.T.(R) (M) (ARRT) + Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification + Successful completion of 40 hours of mammography training Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
