MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

The Job Details: This program is designed to help develop leaders by giving them experience in different areas of our organization.  It is US Cold Storage’s hope that these leaders, with their new perspective and insight, will help the organization to grow and maintain its best in class reputation.

The program is a total of one and a half (1.5) years. It consists of six (6) months in each of the three distinct departments. The three departments will include Logistics, Customer Accounts, and Operations. The candidate will spend half of the six-month stint at each location except for the stint in Logistics which will require the candidate to be present in Wilmington for the entire six months. For example, the candidate will spend three months with operations in one location and the remaining three months in the other location. Management may ask the trainee to spend time in the HR and Maintenance departments as well during the main three program stints. This is simply to get a general understanding of the departments. Special arrangements may be approved by the trainee and management.

Duties, fundamental goals, and Responsibilities include the following:

Operations

Assist the General manager, Operations Manager, and Superintendent with projects and tasks. Understand how product enters and leaves the warehouse and the required activity in-between. Understand customer requirements. Run a shift. Provide support and maintain compliance for audits, as needed. Process timecards and check for accuracy. Assist the HR department in hiring and administering corrective action. Work with the Customer Accounts department to ensure customer requests are satisfied. Oversee inventory control functions. Understand necessary warehousing software. Special projects based upon the facilities’ needs.

Customer Accounts

Assist the Customer Account Manager with tasks and projects. Capable of running billing for customers. Understand customer requirements. Understand customer service workflow and larger implications of the department. Understand customer service software. Set up and understand customer profiles. Understand Customer Account Specialists daily work tasks. Run and utilize customer service reports.

Logistics

Assist the Logistics Manager with tasks and projects. Coordinates and supervises the administration of receiving sales orders and the conversion into picking orders. Manage the fleet and allocate budget. Understand how logistics affects other departments. Complete billing. Utilize necessary transportation software. Capable of organizing truck loads and routing schedules. Develop relationships with carriers. Find optimal solutions for transport and communicate solutions to the clients. Assist with and complete the claims process. Understand tariff classifications. Understand the scheduling process of orders to ensure customer compliance. Receive exposure of the shuttling process between the facilities for optimal routing. Help with pre, post, and in transit issues. Work closely with warehouse operations on daily tasks to ensure shipping demands are met. Direct communication with customers or Customer Account Specialists to prepare orders for shipment or to process freight claims or OS&D issues. Facilitate IT help ticket communications, particularly related to EDI, TMS, WMS. Assist with load building to ensure the routing of customer orders in an efficient manner. Work closely with customers on special request to meet customer demands.

If management asks the trainee to spend time in the HR and Maintenance departments:

HR: Professional and empathetic communication. Working union knowledge for Nebraska. Understand full cycle recruiting and hiring process (background/drug tests, orientation, benefits, UKG, etc.) Conduct interviews. Knowledge of how to handle and solve typical HR related concepts: Workers’ compensation Documentation HITTs entry and completion Investigations Medical leave process and how the different leaves function Payroll, including approving timecards Develop an understanding of our policies and procedures including disciplinary guidelines and handbook. Maintenance: General understanding of the refrigeration system, automation system, the major components of each and typical time and resources needed to repair them. Understanding of budgeting requirements and processes. Asset tracking. Assist in completing and or understand the following: Emergency Response Plan Emergency Action Plan Manager Training Guide Risk Management Plan Tier two reporting Entering a work order and understand the process of work orders in Infor. General understanding of our PSM program and its necessity. Work with SDS sheets. Become familiar with our piping and instrumental diagram.

The Job Specifics:

Location, Department and Work Hours: Minooka/Wilmington/Omaha. Shifts may vary Reports To: Superintendent and or General Manager Travel Amount: The employee will complete the program at the Wilmington, Minooka, and Omaha facilities travel 20% of the time. Education

Bachelor’s Degree or taking classes towards earning degree.

Experience

Supervision experience preferred, must be able to consistently lead and influence others to take positive action, handle multiple high priority tasks in a fast-paced team environment, and requires the ability to work well independently with minimal supervision
